“Why avoid this hotel??”

before i went to this hotel in Dalat i read the reviews on tripadvisor and was very sceptic when i arrived. I was almost in a bad mood because i already did the booking before i read the the reviews and was a bit afraid if i like my staying in this hotel.
But now i'm in a good mood. When i arrived the crew helped me very friendly in some basic english, just like me ( i'm from Holland). I slept 3 nights in Cam Do Hotel and i slept really good. Sure to take youre earplugs with you, but in every hotel in Viettnam i needed them , so i guess its normal. When youre complain about the motorcycles better not come to Vietnam, in HCM alone are already 4 million motorbikes. So this is what you here at night in Vietnam!! In the early evening there was a lot of noise on the frontside of the hotel, i heared also the karaoke thing ( also normal in VN) but around 21:00h they stopped and the traffic was getting less. The fishmarket is on the corner and its very small. i didnt smell anything in my room, only some inscence of the buddistst. The next morning i was the first in the breakfastroom, i ordered Op La this is vietnamese for baked eggs and took coffee. The typical vietnamese french bread and some watermelon, butter and some meat for the bread. this is the breakfast you get in almost every VN hotel with 3 star, so don't complain about this again. For the rest they have enough asian food and some soup, but because i'm a western guy, i preffer bread and coffee. OK some jam would be nice, especially in Dal its famous of the jam. The coffe was good enough, if i may suggest, make an icecoffee, this taste the best! So what i need more?? clean room, nice staff, good bathroom, breakfast was fine, i slept as a rose had a nice massage and it was valueble . So 3 star is good for Cam Do do you expect more? take a higher ranked hotel?!

“Just don't bother...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 February 2011

This hotel describes itself as '3 stars'. I don't really know why. The staff were nice enough which was one upshot. Our room was fine and the bed was comfortable enough, however the bathroom was small and the shower/bathtub not so clean (and with little hot water).

The weather was cold and there is no heater in the rooms. They do offer you a large blanket which helps. Our particular room sat above a large market which predominately sells fish. Consequently was had the delightful odour and sound of fish mongers slicing and dicing their produce from early in the morning until dark. This could be solved by windows which close, however the hotel has chosen small slats which can't be shut fully.

The breakfast was incredibly poor. They offered three items - bread (baguette style, but awful given Vietnam's normally lovely bread), jam and instant noodles. No juice. no tea, no eggs, no butter to have with the jam and bread. On the upside, we had the dining room to ourselves as the other guests presumably didn't come back for a second try. There were several staff in the room but when asked for an item (such as some tea) they were unable to understand or assist us. I don't care about breakfast being included in the price - but if you're going to say that there is a breakfast buffet, then provide it. If you don't want to offer breakfast, that's fine, just don't put it on and we'll all go to a nice cafe for some food.

The staff were nice enough and upon helping us to our room suggested that we may like a massage in the very reasonably priced 'spa' downstairs. I guess we should have known and frankly you get what you pay for. My girlfriend and I decided to have a nice foot massage and paid US$10 each for a nice hour long session. Four women arrived pulling their skin tight mini-skirts down lower as they took a seat on a stool and at this point it become rather clear that we were one of the few guests who would not be opting for the full service option and what is clearly a brothel. The massage was fine and my girlfriend and I could help smiling at the oddity of the situation. The masseuses seemed to find the whole thing somewhat amusing too and laughed along as they tried various ways of keeping the bust line on their tiny shirts closed to preserve their modesty. After some massaging and a what I'm sure was an attempted 'sexy' rub of foot on breast, they demanded a tip and sent us on our way. Relaxation never felt so freaky!

The hotel was not good value. If it had been a $20 a night place then fine, however at $50 a night there are much nicer places and better options.

All in all I would recommend avoiding this place and frankly avoiding Dalat altogether. It didn't have the charm or wilderness that you can find elsewhere in Vietnam such as Halong Bay or Hoi An, nor did it have the touristy attraction of somewhere such as HCMC or Nha Trang. Not worth the trip.

“Dishonest staff in a great location.”

Breakfast buffet tables were depleted an hour before the advertised end of breakfast time.

The staff ripped us off by giving us a room with two beds instead of one because they claimed that one of us was too big to share a bed with her husband... Idiots!

The hot water only lasted for three minutes worth of a shower.

The reception staff were too busy playing on their comPuter to serve us.

No complimentary shampoo!

“Avoid”

Do not stay here! When we found out our first 4 hotel preferences in Dalat were fully booked, we came across this place and thought it looked ok. We found out pretty quickly that we were wrong about that. The staff were rude, and we were constantly ignored in preference of local guests. We chose a 'quiet' room in preference of a view - however, like the other review say, this place is loud! Our room had a window (leading into the corridor!!) which seemed to filter any noise directly into the room. And yes, there was karaoke - we did have ear plugs, but they didn't help much! The room was smelly/dirty, with a whole corner attacked by rising damp. Was glad to get out of here!

“Noisy as hell”

We stayed here for 2 nights and were woken at about 6am both mornings to ABBA blasting on the ground floor!! Rooms are spacious but we had a mouse leaving droppings all over our room. We were on the1st floor just above reception and it was very noisy. Especially in the morning!! The woman on reception wasn't helpful and didnt speak very good english. Very basic, noisy and if I went to Da Lat again I wouldn't stay here again!
