Depending on your politics, experiencing the ancienne Indochine thing could be either exhilarating or revolting. We were somewhere in between. Let's say the fact that there were more middle-class Vietnamese faces than white ones staying at the hotel made it more tolerable. And, if you are lucky enough to get a room facing down into the valley rather than out to the road (and the cell phone tower?) then you will get a dreamy technicolor view of Dalat in all its pseudo-Alpine splendor. Beware of the headmaster's speech on the megaphone at the nearby school but rejoice in the sounds of laughter and play from below. Restaurant across the street continues the colonial theme and charges a hefty amount for a breakfast buffet that is, however, just about worth it. Good coffee, good croissants, etc. You know, the colonial perks...
