“Amarin Victoria Resort, the best place for relax”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 February 2011

At the first time I was a little worried about my hotel choosed, because it looks away from everywhere, but I was wrong. Amarin Victoria Resort is very good located, because you do not need more than 10 minutes (walking time) to go to Mae Nam beach, which is a very quite, if you want a relaxed time. If you want to enjoy a good night in a restaurant or pub, visit some shopping stores or are you looking for a nice foot massage, the Chaweng beach is the palce. You can go there by taxi (THB 400) or by red buses (THB 50 in the day or THB 100 at night) and you need less than 30 minutes. One of the best things in Koh Samui was the people and specialy the kindly employees of Amarin Victoria Resort, who always tried to do the best effort to help me in get a very good time there. They helped me to get a very good and cheap tour to visit the most inportant palces of Koh Samui, as Big Buddha, Grand Father's rock, Namuan Waterfall and the Elephant trecking. Thanks to Lyn , the Manageress of Amarin Victoria Resort, for her help in get the best moments in her hotel and also in Koh Samui. I am very confident to recomend that hotel to everyone who want the best and relaxed holidays in Koh Samui

“I would definitely return to the Amarin Victoria”

This hotel was great! It's not on Chaweng Beach (which is more where the nightlife is), but everything on Koh Samui is just a taxi ride away. The staff was incredible, the rooms were luxurious and spotless, and the pool was a great place to hang out if you didn't feel like going to the beach. The breakfast in the morning was pretty good too. All in all, I'll probably stay here again when I come back. It is a great hotel, especially for the price. Thank you!

“Comfortable and friendly, not ideally located”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 December 2010

Stayed for 6 nights at Amarin. Coming from a more luxurious/expensive hotel on Koh Samui, it was a downgrade in quality however the room was large, comfortable and clean.

Staff were friendly and helpful, very attentive, good for booking tours and bus tickets (thank you Lyn). Enjoyed playing the games in the lobby also.

Breakfast was provided which was great; the buffet-style breakfast was more satisfactory than the a la carte breakfast options - although have to accept that western breakfast isn't the norm in koh samui. Juices were from a carton (not fresh) - but again, this is a product of the island.

The location wasn't excellent. Many of our tour guides/samphong drivers were a bit taken aback that we were staying in the Mae nam part of the island. Mae Nam is not the centre of tourism on the island; however it does have a nice beach and there are a few places to eat within walking distance from the hotel. We got a lot of 'special' transport - different cars/private vehicles from tour groups because all other guests were staying in Chaweng/Lamai. Getting to and from Chaweng at night is relatively expensive. When booking on wotif.com the hotel advertised on-demand shuttle to chaweng and mae nam; after confirmation this turned into on-demand shuttle to mae nam; and in real life the reception staff told us there was only shuttle for airport transfer. Ultimately our transfer into Nathon (we were bus travellers) cost us 400B plus service charge.

Ultimately, it is an adequate and comfortable hotel, possibly offers services similar to those in its price bracket, but first time travellers to Ko Samui may prefer staying in a different district - I wouldn't recommend it for this reason.

“Modern and a peaceful hotel”

Initally we were a bit disappointed with the location because there was nothing much around it and not facing the beach. However, the manager and staff were very friendly and always greeted us with a big smile. It is a hotel where you can have a good sleep after sunbathing down at Maenam Beach. The rooftop pool is just like your private pool. 10 minutes walk to the beah is not a big deal and in fact, it is a good work out to walk to Maenam beach. Maenam beach is definetly much better than Easter and Northern beaches in Koh Samui.

“Peaceful stay”

My stay at Amarin Victoria was what I needed -- a peaceful, relaxing place to unwind. The staff was courteous and helpful with suggestions. The place is clean, safe and secure. The staff is young but knowledgeable. And the location is perfect -- close to the beach and shops, but far away from the overly commercial east coast. I'd stay here again. A quick, convenient jump from Hong Kong.
