“"Resort" at the dirty main street”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

We Booker this hotel as a Part of our roundtravel in South Thailand. On all Websites we Found nice pix and good recommendations, but when we arrived, we were shocked.

First of all, the "Resort" is Not One, it is strange backyard hotel, with the Front entrance at the Dirty and very loud Main Street. Rooms are very tight and require a refurbishment. At all Levels except the Lobby you find yourself in 30 degrees C and the rooms smell like a chinese laundry.

Staff Tries To Be friendly, but the hotel generally has a very Cold and abandoned atmosphere. We felt Lost and uncomfortable and Left After the 1st Night, although 3 were already Paid!!!!

My girlfriend and i returned to this wonderful, warm hotel for the 3rd time in 4 years and always it was a warm, friendly, kind, clean, professional establishment owned and run by the amazing Krist and his amazing general manager Lyn.
Any desires, wishes you require they provide and have the most wondeful, caring staff that reflects the management and the hotel.
If anyone reading this wants a wonderful holiday on the beautiful island of Koh Samui then i recommend the Amarin Victoria....you will not be disappointed.

“Beautiful room and lovely staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 July 2011

I stayed here for three nights whilst on the island for my friends wedding. I booked the hotel the day before, believing it to be cheap and cheerful.
On arrival I was amazed at the size of my room, it was huge and the staff had put pretty flowers everywhere in the room.
I was given fresh fruit and water everyday and free films to watch as and when.
The pool is upstairs on the roof and in the three days I was there I only saw one family there.
It was like having the place to myself, after spending six nights on Ko Pang Yang this was like paradise to me.
Yes I agree it is not in the busiest parts of the island, but I found plenty to do and the food stalls around served lovely food - as did the restaurant.
There are also bars just down the street from the hotel and the beach is pretty close as well.
I would most certainly stay here again

“desert hotel and outdated”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 June 2011

just 1 night on this deserted hotel. the only interest is to be near from the peer.
the staff is pleasant but tired facilities. our room overlooked a courtyard. dining desert ... pool reached groping in the dark!
Why put clients anywhere when hotel is empty ?
why not encourage their stay rather than to act so stupidly ?
I do not know how the hotel in high season, but in May, how sad!

“Great staff, nice hotel, good location...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 June 2011

We got a last minute 'offer' rate at this hotel which was good value. I think the 'rack' rates are a little excessive but for what we paid this place was great (900b). It's on the main road in Mae Nam, which is away from the slightly horrible tourist area of Chaweng but close enough to ride a motorcycle or hail a songthaew into town if wanted. The hotel looks a bit ropey from the outside, but inside is clean, cool and modern. A nice big lobby area with seating, a 'bar' and the reception desk. Our room on the 3rd floor was a 'studio' and was minimalist and modern in its design. It looked slightly dated but only in the way most things age. Lovely large king size bed with nice pillows and sheets. Bathroom had a bath with nice hot water and a shower over. TV in room (limited channels but DVD player and free rental of DVDs from reception) and patio doors onto a balcony area. Mini fridge in room and room service was efficient and tasty. What the staff maybe lacked in knowledge and speed, they certainly made up with friendliness and helpfulness which is important with a hotel (as you know if you've had bad customer service). The hotel has a pool on the roof which was clean and nice. Had it all to ourselves one night. It's small but does the job. Breakfast was OK but we only chose to eat it one day as we thought we could get better value elsewhere. 7/11 just down the road internet and bike hire just over the street. We had laundry done just near 7/11 and the Lomphraya pier and ticket sales is about 1km away along a road going under a 'temple/wat' archway. Turn left out of hotel, drive about 1km (?) and turning is on your right. This hotel is a good location and good value but I think we would only stay here as we can ride a motorcycle and thus get around independently. Maybe not the best location if you are reliant on other modes of transport, even though these are easy enough to hail from the road if you know how. Also not great for nightlife unless you use taxis into Chaweng/Lamai. If we return to Samui we would stay again mainly due to the staff. They let us store luggage on day of departure and even gave us a commemorative photo of our stay!
