“Great staff, nice hotel, good location...”

We got a last minute 'offer' rate at this hotel which was good value. I think the 'rack' rates are a little excessive but for what we paid this place was great (900b). It's on the main road in Mae Nam, which is away from the slightly horrible tourist area of Chaweng but close enough to ride a motorcycle or hail a songthaew into town if wanted. The hotel looks a bit ropey from the outside, but inside is clean, cool and modern. A nice big lobby area with seating, a 'bar' and the reception desk. Our room on the 3rd floor was a 'studio' and was minimalist and modern in its design. It looked slightly dated but only in the way most things age. Lovely large king size bed with nice pillows and sheets. Bathroom had a bath with nice hot water and a shower over. TV in room (limited channels but DVD player and free rental of DVDs from reception) and patio doors onto a balcony area. Mini fridge in room and room service was efficient and tasty. What the staff maybe lacked in knowledge and speed, they certainly made up with friendliness and helpfulness which is important with a hotel (as you know if you've had bad customer service). The hotel has a pool on the roof which was clean and nice. Had it all to ourselves one night. It's small but does the job. Breakfast was OK but we only chose to eat it one day as we thought we could get better value elsewhere. 7/11 just down the road internet and bike hire just over the street. We had laundry done just near 7/11 and the Lomphraya pier and ticket sales is about 1km away along a road going under a 'temple/wat' archway. Turn left out of hotel, drive about 1km (?) and turning is on your right. This hotel is a good location and good value but I think we would only stay here as we can ride a motorcycle and thus get around independently. Maybe not the best location if you are reliant on other modes of transport, even though these are easy enough to hail from the road if you know how. Also not great for nightlife unless you use taxis into Chaweng/Lamai. If we return to Samui we would stay again mainly due to the staff. They let us store luggage on day of departure and even gave us a commemorative photo of our stay!

“One of the nice hotel in Mae Nam Beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 May 2011

We traveled to Koh Samui by NokAir that was not a direct flight ( the ticket all included the Flight + Coach + Hi-speed Catamaran) Started From Bangkok (Don Mueang) To Nakhon Si Thammarat Airport, then took the Air conditioned Coach to Surat Thani (Laem Thuat Pier), connect with Hi-speed Catamaran (by Lom Prayah Company). It was a great journey with the lovely scene from the airport to Laem Thuat Pier in Surat Thani. While we were waiting at the pier , we saw the dolphins near by the pier. After that we catch Hi-speed Catamaran to Koh Samui (Lom Pra Yah - Nar Ton Pier), it took 45 Mins on the Catamaran. The Lom Prayah is also provide the shuttle service to the hotel in Koh Samui with the extra charge only 100/Person/Way. We took the shuttle to the hotel, Amarin Victoria Samui, there was only 2 of us on the shuttle. It took only 15 Mins from Lom Prayah - Nar Ton Pier to Amarin Victoria Samui.

Location : The hotel is located on the Mae Nam Road and "Mae Nam beach" is only 10-15 mins to walk. Around the hotel and on near by the beach, have many local restaurants, 7/11 and Family Mart where is so easy for us to get what we need.

The Room : We stayed on the 3rd floor, with the WOW view from the room. The room is cleaned ,nice decoration, furnished and comfortable for our stay. But it is a bit dark, not too much light in the room. In the toilet had the aroma burner which is so wonderful atmosphere upon arrive the room. Along the corridor from the elevator to the room had many great painting and trendy decoration.

The Pool : Situated on the rooftop with the fantastic view, overlook to the beach.

Staff & Service : All the staffs were friendly and always smile without fake. Helpful and willing to give the information and service. This hotel has a free WiFi in room. We stayed on the period that was not to many guests, so the breakfast was a bit pity, a la carte set. On departure day : the staffs took a photo for us and print out in few minutes. That is a spontaneous lovely service.

If you do not mind the hotel right on the beach. We are highly recommend "Amarin Victoria Samui" , one of the good hotel in Mae Nam Beach area where you should try to stay.

“Could do with some maintenance”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 April 2011

It's a friendly place - not a great location but only a short walk from Mae Nam beach which is a great, quiet beach.

It has obviously had a modern fit out fairly recently with dark wood furnishings and 'almost' polished concrete walls everywhere - a little brutal but it must have been quite stylish when new.

Seems clean enough though the main complaint is that it could just do with better maintenance. The common areas like the bar and rooftop pool all badly need a coat of paint and a tidy up. The place feels a bit derelict and poorly presented.

Dear Pr0fT,

We are glad to hear that you are happy with our friendly service as it is our hotel's goal to make our guests feel comfortable like staying at home.

About furnishing and decorating, the 'almost' polished concrete presents the minimalism with modern style.

Last but not least, thank you for your reviews for our further improvement.

Best regards,

Lyn

“Bad, Bad & Bad”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 March 2011

I am unsure where these other reviewers stayed (great hotel, good location etc) this hotel is awful! The pictures of the rooms are pretty much what you get, other than that everything else was a total let down. I am comparing this hotel to others we stayed at in the same price range and we are pretty easy going when it comes to facilities etc (when you are in Thailand you have to make allowances for certain aspects)

Where do I start....

The lobby smells constantly of fish, this is where the corner bar is so it makes for a very uncomfortable nightcap!

The hotel decor leaves a lot to be desired, imagine a big concrete box and you are half way there.

The pool was filthy and freezing cold, no bar as it is on the roof...the bar below it has no staff so you have to go 4 floors down to the lobby (back to the fish smell) to get a drink. The staff did finally realise we were sitting by the pool and brought us up some drinks, but we had been there for quite a while before this.

The food is ok, just ok nothing special.

The location of the hotel is really disappointing, it is not in Bophut as many websites will lead you to believe...it is at least a 15 min cab ride away!!

The last thing which we found very annoying is that the staff speak very little English (please dont take this to be rude) I understand we are in Thailand but it becomes very tedious when even the basic questions are met with blank expressions.

The one bonus about this hotel is that they have a free library of dvd's for you to use during your stay.

I am glad we only booked to stay at this place for 2 nights as I would have happily paid to leave had we booked for longer.

Dear emd47,

Due to your comments, It's so surprised and and there might be some misunderstanding as I would like to inform you the clarification as below by topic;

Design: our hotel design is modern and minimalism as you may see in our website.
Lobby smell: there are many guests use our lobby area for reception service, playing game and reading some magazines. we have never heard about the complain of this problem.
Swimming Pool: it is supposed to be the privacy area for our guest so that the guests could enjoy the panoramic view during swimming and sun-bathing without any disturbing. our staff would go to see whether any guests need any assistance sometimes.
Location: we're located at Maenam area, not Bophut.

By all means, thank you that you enjoys our free DVD movie service and thank you for your feedback for our further improvement.

“Amarin Victoria Resort, the best place for relax”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 February 2011

At the first time I was a little worried about my hotel choosed, because it looks away from everywhere, but I was wrong. Amarin Victoria Resort is very good located, because you do not need more than 10 minutes (walking time) to go to Mae Nam beach, which is a very quite, if you want a relaxed time. If you want to enjoy a good night in a restaurant or pub, visit some shopping stores or are you looking for a nice foot massage, the Chaweng beach is the palce. You can go there by taxi (THB 400) or by red buses (THB 50 in the day or THB 100 at night) and you need less than 30 minutes. One of the best things in Koh Samui was the people and specialy the kindly employees of Amarin Victoria Resort, who always tried to do the best effort to help me in get a very good time there. They helped me to get a very good and cheap tour to visit the most inportant palces of Koh Samui, as Big Buddha, Grand Father's rock, Namuan Waterfall and the Elephant trecking. Thanks to Lyn , the Manageress of Amarin Victoria Resort, for her help in get the best moments in her hotel and also in Koh Samui. I am very confident to recomend that hotel to everyone who want the best and relaxed holidays in Koh Samui
