We stayed at the Baan Hin Sai Resort and were grossly disatisfied. Although the hotel would have been a great place when first built. It appears run down. The rooms were generally clean (subject to the infestations below).

The hotel does not match the description on the website. There are serious cleanliness issues, - we discovered a rat in our room and rat droppings in the draws. The hotel also did nothing to deal with the cockroach infestations.

The hotel is built on a hill and so I would not recommend it to anyone that is not prepared to take a 10 minute uphill hike from their room to the main reception or main entrance/exit/breakfast room. There is a gulf buggy available but we were told sometimes that we would have to wait for 1 hour for it.

Despite the inaccurate description of the hotel's location, the hotel is a 20 minute drive from the main Cheweng beach. If you don't have your own transport you will have to rely on the hotel's shuttle that leaves at the most inconvenient and random times (e.g. 30 minutes before breakfast is finished).

Apart from the hotel engineer (who was extremely helpful and pleasant), the hotel staff were extremely unhelpful particularly at reception (I nearly had my foot run over by another buggy driver who was unapolagetic). They even tried to charge us for using th hotel shuttle bus even though it was supposed to be free.

Absolutely dreadful stay and I would not recommend this to anyone.
