“Heaven must wait, until you've been to this resort!”

Having just spent a wonderful vacation at this resort, I can only agree with other comments that the Tongsai Bay is a "must" for everyone seeking to get away on a truly magical and romantic holiday. But without repeating what already has been greatly written about this fabulous resort, let me instead add the following observations: The Tongsai Bay hotel itself is not a five star hotel as such. It lacks some polishing hereto. Rather it has a homestyle atmosphere to it. Also the service provided by the staff is extremely warm, heartily and feels honest, but it is not over the top. However having said this, you still end up with more than a five star experience of a holiday when you stay at Tongsai Bay. The resort is located in a lush green private bay with it's own private beach, and where all motorized boats, including jet ski is banned from entering, thus providing a very tranquil and safe feeling when either swimming in the waters or sunbathing on the beach. We had booked "The Island Explorer package" which included daily buffet breakfast, one free massage at the Prana Spa (wonderfull, and you may even chose to have your massage outdoor by the beach), a cooking class with the Executive Chef (Australian Mark Kroeger), highly recommended and much fun!, 1/2 island sightseeing tour, free r/t shuttle to the airport. We specifically booked the Hideaway cottage no. 215 at the resort and what a gem! At the end of a road, down some stairs all by itself, completely undisturbed from neighboring cottages and built right on the rocks leading straight down into the ocean, this cottage really felt truly like a summer vacation home. This cottage was so great because of it's isolation that we almost had no need to leave it for any reason, except going for food. On the cottage's gigantic terrace with undistrupted view to the bay and the ocean, there was an outdoor bathtub, a four pole canopy, table with four chairs and two plank beds for sun bathing. The Tongsai Bay Resort faces east, so you are in for some of the most beautiful oceanic sunrises you can imagine. Set the alarm at 6:30 AM, step out to the terrace, and for the following 20 minutes, enjoy how the orange sun rises quickly above sea level into full power. After show time, we headed straight for breakfast which was just another wonderfull experience. Especially the fruit station was amazing in that you could request for your own private mixture of freshly squeezed juice in all various sorts and combinations. And again, the staff was so warm and smiling all the time. Speaking about dining, the Tongsai Bay Resort is somewhat remotely located from any nearby city (20 mins to Chaweng and 800 Bath roundtrip), thus we really never left the resort during our stay and thus dined at either of the three restaurants available. It could prove costly to some, I actually missed a small feature inside the resort such as a sandwich bar where I could grab a quick bite during main meals, but with a daily lavish breakfast and full scale dinner, we sufficed. Throughout the week, there are various activities going on such as Friday night open air beach cinema, Monday night beach BBQ, weekly yoga classes, twice weekly lunch cooking classes Friday and Tuesday - try this just once please! Afterwards, you get to enjoy your own cooked Thai lunch together with the chef - he was really outstanding, by the way, and much involved in us "students" getting it right. Looking back on our stay at the Tongsai Bay resort, I cannot recommend this place highly enough to others: Go, go, go and have a dream vacation of a lifetime. We will definitely return.

Room Tip: Book the hideaway cottage # 215. Book early as, according to the hotel, particularly this cottage is...

“Excellent sitting round the pool now :-)”

I'm writing this from poolside :-)
I've travelled all over the world and normally won't go to the same place twice (except the Maldives ) but I can see me returning here
The hotel is excellent we are staying in the most "basic" room as I'm paying for the inlaws for their 50ths
But it is of a very high standard and the attention to detail is great, the staff are fantastic the food is amazing and the setting is perfect far away from the madness but close enough to visit if required I cannot recommend this place more

“Fabulous...Romantic...Intimate....Personalised & Out of this World!!”

This is a review that was meant to be on here almost 3 months ago, but as long as it gets on here and Tongsai gets its Kudos. Better Late than Never as they say.

We spent part of our Honeymoon at the TSB and stayed here for a week, from the 12th Dec - 19th Dec. We had an opportunity to infact have the experience of two different room types from the ones on offer. We were to first stay at the Tongsai Pool VIlla( Room No.508) for 3Nights. But i guess we had a bad timing and were unable to use the Pool at the villa due to the cold and breeze(note: dec is monsoon season) hence we moved into our next room on our second day there itself.
We then moved to the Hideaway Cottage ( Room No.215). Both the rooms were perfect in their own way, and we think that we were just unfortunate not to be able to use the Pool Villa to the fullest. Pictures of the rooms are attached to give u a better perspective of each room.

Food : The food array at all meal times and restaurants was good. The breakfast spread is fabulous and absolutely yummy...the fruit ladies are cute and will always help u with the perfect juices. The men handling the flat top grill are efficient and will put in whatever u like into ur omelets.
Every Monday's there's a beach BBQ with a lavish spread. It has everything from simple salads n soups to fabulous roasts and grills. Make sure u have a good appetite if opt to go for the monday BBQ nite.
Since we were on our Honeymoon we had received a voucher for a set thai dinner. We found that the food at this dinner was a bit disappointing and not really up to the mark. We found the food flavorless and bland which is not what Thai food should be. In fact the road side Thai Local Food seemed to be better than what we were served that night.
Other than the mishap that night, we found the food at all other times good and worth the price(unlike many other reviews that say food here is expensive).

SPA:
While we were there, the spa was under renovation, so unfortunately we were unable to visit the spa itself. But they did have the spa ladies come over to our rooms for whatever treatments we'd like.

SWIMMING POOLS :
We didnt get an opportunity to use the General Free Form Pool, as like i said earlier it was the monsoon season and there wasnt really much sun out there and was pretty breezy to actually get a swim. However we did get one morning to use the Half Moon Pool. The pool boy was of great help, and the pool was neat, clean and was beautiful. It was quiet by the pool and we were thankful to have it just for ourselves :).

To conclude:
Rooms were fab, Service was impeccable, Staff were friendly & courteous, we prefered PoLad over Chef Chom's, Breakfast is totally yummy.

If anyone would need any help in anyway with the resort or surroundings, dont hesitate to msg :)

“Great hotel. Shame about the sea!”

Fab hotel with great staff. Only one complaint was that the red flag which was sorely needed when the sea was rough stayed up even when the waves were as flat as the excellent pancakes we had at breakfast. Seems like no one was responsible for making sensible decisions on this. Loved the film on the beach under the stars
