“Wonderful - can't go wrong with the Shangri-la!”

Visited Chiang Mai with my family (2 kids, 14 and 9-yo). Confess that expected more of the city, but there are a lot of things to do around Chiang Mai. The Shangri-la is wonderful. We had booked two rooms, but since they could not put the two rooms close to each other, we were upgraded to the Presidential Suite (a really nice treat!). The location of the hotel is excellent - walking distance from the night bazaar, but you will need a tuk-tuk to go to the old city area. Service is wonderful, you can't go wrong with the Shangri-la! I'd definitely recommend this hotel!!!

The hotel has good facilities and the staff are very nice. When we had a problem with the meeting rooms booking, they did their best to solve it. They have a nice bar.

“Classic 5* great location”

A good five star property. Nice rooms, plenty of closet space. Nice reception and lobby. The facade of the hotel is a bit office building-y. Pool is really nice. Breakfast is not great - if it's not included I wouldn't pay for it, there are amazing places nearby - a diner 2 min walk to the right with all the best American diner food (awesome chocolate chip pancakes) and a cafe 3 min walk to the left with great breakfast options. Food items that had run out were not refilled even though we were there half hour before breakfast was supposed to end. Wi-fi was free but we had to stand by our room door to use it. They gave us a free bottle of wine for our anniversary. The biggest problem we had with our room tough - you could hear EVERYTHING from the room next door. Sounded like a large family would all congregate at 7:30am and they were so loud all day. You could everything through the walls/connecting door. I was surprised by that at a 5*.

Staff is super friendly - everyone talks to you in the elevators, and around the hotel. The concierge is not very good - doesn't have a lot of info about tours and things to see. She couldn't even tell us how to get to the sunday walking market.

The location is great - walking to night market. Great massage places within minutes. Loads of banks across the street. 2 blocks from the river. A quick drive to old city. And close to the airport.

“A place you look forward to coming "home" to.....”

Second trip to Chiang Mai - ( first time stayed at the Chedi - whose prices now border on the obscene ) While not quite the Shangri -la Bangkok ( i rated that first of 16 hotels in Bangkok )-- you will not go wrong here.
Stayed on Executive floor with great breakfast, sandwich/soda for lunch, and drinks with almost enough food to count as dinner at night. If George is around- everything - from sights to what's happening is a done deal.
Room spotless- huge pool- great jacuzzi- nice gym and sauna.. Staff helpful and cared we were happy.
Easy walk to night market- Tuk Tuks or taxis in front for everything else.
We were there for the flower show which was fantastic- see the Pandas at the CM Zoo- and get a message at the Cheeva Spa ( they pick you up at hotel )
Thumbs up to Shangri La and Chiang Mai

Room Tip: The pool side is quieter
