“Great place and owners”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 December 2011

Staying at the scorpion tailed boat village was a great experience. The owners treated you like family and were always there to help you when you needed. The complimentary breakfasts were also delicious. I advise you to have the Thai breakfasts when Mie asks you what you want to enjoy her great cooking. The place was sometimes unknown to taxi or tuk tuk drivers, but if you tell them you are by Khao Soi Lam Duan or Fa Ham temple, they will know. THe rooms are very spacious by Thai standards. The only thing wrong was the hot water heater was a bit weak. To get hot water in the shower, you have to turn down the water so the heater can heat the water fast enough.

Its a lovely place to stay for a couple of days. Quiet area , close to the river , lovely garden. Looks spectacular and very romantic in the evening when all the little lights are on . When you have minute , you could ask the lady to have a walk arround a garden , and than you will spend at least a day with her - as each plant has a different story . The owners are very friendly and open - very nice people who built their dream - Scorpion Village . I would deffinitely go back there .

Room Tip: each room is quet and big enough

“Excellent ervice, friendly staff, enjoyable stay!”

My family of 6 stayed in the family hut for over a week. We enjoyed the personalised service of the owners. These folks will bend over backwards to make your stay comfortable. During our week + stay, they purchased a crib for our toddler, a coffee pot for our room, arranged multiple tours, helped us order pizzas and taxis, assisted us in retrieving lost articles from tour buses, and gave advice on excellent restaurants and sights to see in Chiang Mai. The huts are simply furnished. If you are looking for a quiet, rustic setting with no noise or television, clean sheets, hammocks and fruit trees, then we heartily encourage you to stay here! Our children appreciated the freedom of exploring the gardens around the gated property and playing with Sumo, the gentle shepherd mix who lives there . The Boat Village is a five minute taxi ride or a 20 minute walk from local downtown markets. It has good security - ie locked gates - at night and the owners live on the premises. A full, hearty breakfast served at your convenience every morning. The open air restaurant is only open for breakfast. We would definitely stay here again.

Scorpion is an excellent place to stay. Everything is really clean and the staff is the most kind staff you can imagine. If you like a quiet accomodation in a green surrounding you must come here to stay. If we come back to Chiang Mai we will stay here again.

“The Great Escape from city life”

It was a great experience staying at the Scorpion Tailed boat Village hotel. Not far from the city central and yet you feel you are living in the forest. The feeling of the very old days living style of the Thai people in these huts is just wonderful. At the nearby on the river edge you will find the best Thai food cuisines restaurants ever.
The Staff at this Hotel, Mr. Samak and his wife Mrs Mei were friendly and very helpful to us. We also had the best river tour on the boat arranged by Mr. Samak for 500 T.B. each. and learned about the rich history and the culture of the Thai people and the past kingdoms of
Chiang Mai.
