Location, location, location. The Dusit D2 Chiang Mai is located a stone's throw away to Chiang Mai's famous Night Bazaar and Thanon Loi Kor, which is full of local bars and eating places. The Ping River and old city moat is also within walking distance. Despite it's central location, the rooms at Dusit D2 is relatively well soundproofed to ensure a good night's sleep.
We booked a Club Deluxe room and was generously upgraded to a Studio Suite room by the hotel, despite being the peak period of Chiang Mai Flower Festival and Royal Flora Ratchaphruek. The room allocated to us was huge to say the least, with a separate ilving room and dressing room, and we had a splendid time. The hotel put small local souvenirs in the orange box on the study table, which I think is a very nice touch. They also included insect repellents for the guests usage, which is very thoughtful and comes in handy.
The hotel's Devarana Spa is also highly recommended for relaxing and pampering at the end of a long day of excursions and sightseeing around Chiang Mai.
However, the hotel may want to improve the morning buffet selection at Moxie, which is very bland compared to the usual standard of the Dusit Group of Hotels.
