“Comfortable Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

Stayed here in January 2012. Very comfortable stay , breakfast was up to expectations, close to night market , a very nice massage parlour near the hotel , cheap laundy service to be found in the lane to the hotel.

Did not visit the pool area - too busy enjoying the splendors of Chiang Mai.

Will definately stay at the Hotel again.

Room Tip: Deluxe rooms are spacious.

“Empress Hotel: comfort and value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

I stayed at this hotel for seven nights and was impressed by the standard of service, cleanliness of rooms and the helpfulness of the staff. There are very reasonably priced buffet lunches and dinners for in-house guests, and there was a good variety of Thai, chinese and western food.
The hotel is a few minutes walk from the Night Bazaar, and there are plenty of coffee shops, restaurants and other shops, such as tailors, in the area. The old town is only a few minutes further walk, so the hotel is pretty well positioned. My only rconcern was that the wifi was moderately costly (500 Bht for 24 hr connect time). While this isn't exorbitant, more and more international hotels are providing this service free of charge.

“It's decent, affordable, and not a bad value”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

The Empress is where we landed when we first arrived to Thailand. After traveling for 30 hours straight, I think anything would look awesome. And The Empress sufficed. For the equivalent of $75/night it was a good value.

We were on our honeymoon and wanted something a little newer an more upscale, but of what you are looking for is a good price point, a pool, good location, decent breakfast, then this is your place.

My biggest issue was the Shower. The shower was logistically set up weird. There was a flat ridge about six inches wide that went around the bathtub, and the huge amounts of water that hit these ridges drained onto the floor of the bathroom. There was a drain on the bathroom floor, but on the other side of the toilet, so, wet feet for the rest of the morning.

It is super close to a great Thai Massage place that also does laundry for cheap. 70 baht per kilo!

Excellent Hotel, good value. Lovely room with a complimentary fruit bowl, and beautiful flowers. Free wifi with your own computer. Fantastic breakfast selection. Poor choice for evening meals so suggest eating out but don't let that put you off the hotel.

“Empress Hotel in Chiang Mai”

Great hotel with good food and friendly staff. Rooms are clean and very nice. I have stayed there on several occaisions when I have been in Chiang Mai. The only complaint I have is the WiFi you have to purchase the time and the cost is rather expensive. Many hotels offer the same service for free.

Room Tip: All rooms are okay.
