What a great place to stay. First of all this is in a very good location in Chiang mai, down one of the alleyway streets of the old town. Theres many guesthouses in this area but of all the ones we walked by Yindee has to be one of the best looking from the outside. Theres several nice chillout areas where you can borrow books to read next to some cool looking waterfountains. The room was very clean and it was nice to see a little seperation between the shower and toilet. Bed was very comfy and theres also plenty of a desk and shelf spaces to put all your things. Theres no breakfast served but there is help-your-self coffee, hot chocolate, tea, bananas and mandarin oranges any time of the day. All in all one of the best places weve stayed in Thailand. Also id like to mention management is very friendly and gives you good advice on anything you wish to do in Chiang Mai. Jazz (the owner i think) will even give you a account of the ancient history of chiang mai when showing you the city map and showing you some nearby spots of interest you can tell he really loves the city.

We loved everything about the Yindee, and would go back in a heartbeat!
The manager, Jazz, was so welcoming; we arrived way before check-in time, hoping to be able to dump our bags at reception, but Jazz gave us our room key straight away, a fantastic start.
The guesthouse is in a very good location, a friendly, safe enviroment, and peaceful too.
No in-room safe, but Jazz put our valuables in his safe for us. Nothing was too much trouble, and he was always cheerful. He was happy to book tours for you, but not in the slightest pushy.
Plenty of places nearby for breakfasts, and we ate dinner twice at a great little eatery, it was called something like 'Kanjona', and the food was superb. (The owner also had a little dog dressed in a red outfit,complete with fairy wings!)
Oh, and although there's no fridge in the room, there is a big fridge on the landing on each floor, so that's handy.
Would I recommend the Yindee to my best friend? Hell yes!! What's not to like??

i stayed at the Yindee in Nov 2011 and would just like to say this is a great place to stay, safe, comfortable and a great location just around the corner is a market for fresh fruit and nibbles and a few cafes for brekkie. lovely people lovely town missing it like crazy :-(

I actually stayed here about a year ago but I'm only getting around to writing a review now. I booked this place based on its positive reviews and I wanted to add to them. From memory the rate I got was very competitive. Rooms we a good size with decent TV and a king-size bed. The guesthouse is in a great location but its biggest selling point are the owner and his brother in law who mans the reception. The owners name escapes me but he has excellent English and is a mine of information from recommending restaurants to tours and all his recommendations were excellent. He could not do enough for us. His brother in law who's English is not as goo but is equally friendly and helpful.

Would definitely recommend Yindee to anyone
