“a treasure of a hotel”

this beautiful 'colonial home' has impeccably clean rooms with lovely furnishings, large bathrooms and even turn down service. the infiniti pool and its surroundings lends itself to a serene escape from the hustle bustle of the city. the staff here should also be noted as they are extremely helpful, friendly and accommodating. incidentally the morning breakfasts were plentiful and quite delicious and enjoyed our dinner there the first night so much we opted to again share in its fare our last night as well. you can not go wrong checking into this hidden treat of a hotel.

“A very small and noisy hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

This is a very small hotel (5 tables in restaurant,17 rooms). At anything near full occupancy, I can't imagine what it would be like.

The building is L-shaped, the long edge facing directly onto road (other than a narrow pavement). A lane runs behind. In short, two sides of the hotel are flanked by roads. Traffic noise is quite considerable.

There is a lot of wood in the room (cupboards, blinds, doors etc) which, because of humidity, is warped and are therefore quite difficult to open/close etc. For example, to close the balcony doors, quite considerable strength is required.

The small very pool about 12m. There are 6 loungers. After noon, there is little if no shade.

Shortly after we arrived, a family of 5, with 3 children under 9. They dived bombed into pool and took all the loungers. Nothing was done about this by either their parents or by the hotel. We left.

Dear Guest,

We are very sorry that our hotel did not appeal to you. We work hard to develop the soul of our colonial house style property, and so many of our guests are happy being here as one can see from TripAdvisor’s reviews.

I should correct some mistaken facts about the hotel. Our restaurant has twelve tables both indoor and outdoor; we also can put more tables in the veranda if needed. The hotel has 19 rooms with public areas as shown in my previous reply.

“ . . . The Ping Nakara was built in the colonial style of a grouping of houses, so it is true that the hotel looks like a large house—or, in fact a large 3-story mansion with an elevator. With the total floor space of over 37,500 square foot there is plenty of space for 19 large rooms, 4 spa rooms, restaurant, library, bar, and swimming pool. Because of our commitment to preservation of the Lanna colonial style, the Ping Nakara received many awards for design and architectural excellence . . .”

Kind regards,
Chairat

“Exceptional service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

This is the sort of hotel you just dont want to leave. It is beautiful in design, every detail has been thought of (love the pillow menu) and the staff were exceptional (this was highlighted by our previous bad experience at The Passage, Ko Samui). The location is near the night market and the river and a short tuk tuk ride from the old city. The food was great and good value. I had a treatment at the spa which was lovely but overpriced for what you can get in the area, especially as the 15% discount voucher you get only covers the service charge.

“Serene”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

Throughout our trip in Thailand we stayed at several fantastic hotels, of which Ping Nakara was our favourite, unfortunately we only styed for one night. The building is as beautiful as it look in the photos, the food in the restaurant is very good and I really enjoyed the Thai breakfast. We also found the service provided by the staff to be excellent. Our room was very comfortable. We were a little worried before our stay regarding some of the comments about noise from the main road as we are both quite sensitive to noise. However we did not find it disturbed us at all. After check out we sat by the pool until 4.00pm waiting for our onward transport, this was a great way to while away a few hours.

Room Tip: Try the Chaing Mai sussage for breakfast.

“Just Delightful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

Everything about this place is wonderful. The boutique hotel with just 19 rooms is a colonial design with period piece furniture throughout. The architecture and decor is delightful. There is a lovely pool in the centre of the property with a veranda to sit and relax. The room I was in was large and had a balcony. There is free WiFi throughout the property.
Breakfast is included and is delicious.
All the staff are helpful and friendly. Mr Noom who can organise tours and transport is particularly helpful.
It is a classy place and i hope to have the opportunity to stay here again sometime soon.
