“A Warm Traditional Hotel in Chiang Mai”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 March 2008

Hideaway from an exhausted working-life in Bangkok. Chanakan Mansion was a delightful, relaxing place for my vacation - a week's worth of enjoyment !!!

A fantastic room decorates in warm Lanna style reflects our northerners' traditional life style into my imagination and reminds me so much about one of my most favorite films, Suriyothai (Queen of Ayudhaya). Once you have a chance of staying you're barely recalled the scenes of the Princess of Chiang Mai (played by Penpak Sirikul), Jing Jing !!

There was a sense of exhilaration about relaxing by the pool with my good book and some fashion magazines, even more the breathtaking views of Doi Suthep....so beautiful.....

I do recommend the coming Songkran festival (one of the most important traditional festivals of Thailand, highlight in Chiang Mai), as you know the first day falls on April 13th, for over three days...................see you there !!!

“Friendly Family Run Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 March 2008

My husband and I had a relaxing 2 weeks and the friendly owners of the hotel spoilt us rotten. As soon as we checked into our large spacious rooms we were offered a thai massage in our rooms which is great for the jet lag.

Every morning we had a gorgeous cooked breakfast with freshly baked bread. Our fridge was always stocked up with drinks which were free. There's also a gym and laundry service which we took advantage of so had hardly any fat to burn or laundry to do when we got back to the UK.

There's plenty to do in Chiang Mai such as Elephant trekking, Night Safari, Hot Springs, Rafting etc. but to be honest we spent most of the time relaxing by the pool with a cocktail. The owners Jeff and Wan were happy to arrange any trips and transport which was a great help and even drew us a map to all the bars and restaurants which was only a 10 minute moped ride away. Shopping in Chinag Mai is a must, it's as good as Bangkok but without the traffic and noise.

I would definately reccomend this hotel to young couples, families and single travellers!

“A Little Gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 March 2008

“Chanakan Mansion”

I approached Chanakan Mansion with great trepidation. No recommendation, no review, no star rating as far as I could ascertain, just information from a fellow passenger at the airport who had stayed there for one night.

When I arrived my trepidation was soon dispelled. Not the sort of hotel that I am used to staying in but what a gem I had found. found.

I was welcomed by Wan, a lovely lady who is well in control of housekeeping and food and well able to answer all my questions about Chiang Mai and the surrounding area.

This modern family run hotel is situated in close proximity to the end of the airport runway but I must say noise was never a problem. It boasts a medium sized swimming pool and what turned out to be free reliable internet access.

The bedrooms are both spacious and spotless; mine had a four poster bed (that’s a first !). The public areas are again spotless and good food well prepared and served.

Nothing was too much trouble for the hosts Wan and Jeff two people who made a pleasant change from the staff found in the more expensive hotels that I am used to, I will be most happy to return to this little ‘gem’.

“Loved the Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 March 2008

I normally stay in Brand name hotels such as the Hyatt and Sheraton but the Chanakan Mansion Hotel deserves as much a four or five star rating as the others. The short scenic drive from the airport , the spacious rooms, the excellent meal (fresh baked bread!!) in the pool side restaurant, the relaxing drink at the pool side bar and the view of the aircraft as they start their takeoff (surprisingly low noise level) are excellent reasons to stay at the Chanakan Mansion but they barely compare to the wonderful hosts Wan and Jeff. There are many family activities in and around Chiang Mai as well as excellent restaurants. Just ask your hosts for the itenary or you can contact me; Richard email: Richard@C2C-Engineering.com
