One of my Bangkok favourites. I've stayed here 5-6 times since they opened. I feel it's appropriate to do a second review as the property seriously seems to lack maintenance.
The last time i stayed here the pool was so filthy that I jumped right out of it once I noticed the greenish algae carpet that covered about 1/3 of the bottom, the water also had an unpleasant smell to it. Pool area is in desperate need of some TLC, only one of the 20+ lamps in the pool and pool wall was working. All lamps in the "well" facing the gym had broken fixings and floated around like dead fish. The fake grass on the sundeck has more black mold spots than green "grass" to it, and the paint on the walls is sunworn and starting to flake. Most of the varnish on the sunbeds and furniture has come off in ugly flakes, and the wood is now twisted and deteriorating. A couple of broken sunbeds is unsightly stacked away on the roof in clear view amongst other (broken?) rubble.
Aircon in the hallways as well as the lights in the stairwell "chandelier" is now switched off, probably to save on electricity bills.
Napkins in the cafe and the pool towels is in a sorry state, some of it patched up. Several wood panels in lobby and hallways are damaged by moisture, and a moldy odour would occasionally greet you when going to and from your room.
In-room and cafe menus has been redesigned, for some reason they have decided to drop the cool fonts and design that went so well with the hotel and instead go for a theme that doesn't match.
Service is still very friendly, efficient and professional, rooms are spotless, the free wi-fi is fast and stable and the food is great. I love the atmosphere at this hotel, but a filthy pool takes away one of the hotel's big pros, I'll most likely look for another place to stay during my next visit to Bangkok.
