“Terrible WIFI connection!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

I have stayed in Adelphi Suites for 5 nights in February. Overall it was a nice suites to stay, big room with king size bed, big bathroom etc. The breakfast was so so, almost the same everyday with limited choices. The poor thing was the WIFI. It was terrible that I couldn't get connected with WIFI in our room. The signal was EXTREMELY POOR. sometimes no signal. What a WIFI they have? I was very disappointed about that. I believe that the internet connection is very important nowaday all around the world so that we can get the very updated informations. I hope the Adelphi have to upgrade their WIFI connection such as change the router with a new version or new model. For me, I won't stay in this suites again shortly until they improve it.

“Not as good as before”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

I agree with Doctor. I really am hesitent to rate this a 4, it's starting to lean heavily to 3 to 3/12 compared to what this hotel was. If this hotel wants to keep up their medium to high prices they should definitely spend some of the money they are making and rennovate. As it stands right now I think they are starting to teeter into the realm where for the price you may or may not be able to find a better value elsewhere. Although the location is still good, it's not as good as it was previously. Soi 8 has a lot of hotels coming up on that soi so it is getting really busy. Much much busier than previously. If you stay here make sure to watch your step as taxi's drive crazy and there are quite a few hotel shuttles coming from down the soi to bring guests to Sukhumvit. I stayed in a studio, which I have before. Also tried the Deluxe Suite and the Executive. The difference between the two is quite substantial. The floor area of the Executive is huge. But I will say that the depending on which Deluxe you get, some Deluxe rooms design are much better giving you much more floor space. The breakfast buffet has gotten much better. They used to have chairs that were about 1 meter or a little more from the floor and that is quite awkward. They must have received a lot of complaints cause those are gone now. The buffet now has a lot more choices to choose from, one thing I wish they would do, but all Thai hotels do this, is put a sign noting you can get eggs fried, scrambled, omlettes, etc...behind where the toast is located you just tell them and they'll cook it. Unless you know you would just think the cook is just doing some arbitrary work behind that counter. They should also maybe train their front desk better. I explained my requirements and asked questions prior to my arrival and yet their was still a mix up when I arrived. It was very late and I didn't want to really think much so I just opted for the Studio and sorted it all out the next day.
The bathroom in the deluxe was all busted up, the mirrors were sometimes offset so they wouldn't close. Broken bracket for shower slider bar. The shower design itself is good on the door but for some reason they ran the plastic piece to keep the water in the shower and stoped it before it could reach the other side creating a seal, so it leaves a space so water can leak out. The bottom is a joke, they put this plastic piece about 3 or 4 centimeters above the bottom so it doesn't seal properly. So my advice is but the rug against the shower door so when you close it, the rug is making the seal for you. Or be careful when you come out of the shower it will probably be wet.
Upon checking out. Usually in the US a business will take a credit card, run the card then immediately once the receipt is dispensed give the credit card back. This is so the consumer will not forget their card and once the receipt is given the card is approved so keeping it any longer is silly and pointless. This did not happen at checkout and so I forgot my credit card as I was trying to get to the airport to make my early morning flight. It's very luck that it just so happens they knew the taxi driver of the taxi my wife was in and they called him about this before they went through the toll way from Sukhumvit onto the expressway. IMO that is poor training, just give the card back, there is no reason for you to still hold the card. All in all still good but starting to lose their luster.

“Still good, but some slippage noted”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

Let me begin by having a word about some 'reviews' here on Tripadvisor; in my humble opinion, writing about 4 lines and calling it a review is a rather fraudulent habit by some. It isn't helpful, it says next to nothing, and is just plain lazy. If you're really going to be helpful to your fellow travellers, kindly take the time to write something detailed, accurate, and actually informative so that they can make considered choices.

Right, the AS; as usual, the hotel maintains its high standards, without being conspicuously ostentatious like some of the so-called 'high end', exclusively prohibitive seraglios, if I may use that word. The staff, the prized asset of any such establishment, are as friendly, accommodating, and recognisable as they always are - a true constant in this establishment. When I got there the other week travel stained and totally sacked off with the bland anonymity of featureless airports and anodyne 'plane cabins, I was treated like the prodigal son home from his wanderings. A smile, a hello, a recognition by name makes all the difference.

The rooms are great - not palatial, but comfortable, spacious, and with all you really need - a comfortable bed that can absorb any level of impact (!) :-) a decent-sized fridge, flat screen TV with lots of English-speaking (and, other) channels, plenty of space for your clobber, tea/coffee making facilities, a safe for your valuables, and a decent sized bathroom with basic ablution amenities. Nothing too luxurious, but enough for your needs. It also has free breakfasts included and wi-fi, although to ensure continuous online connection you may need an additional LAN cable from the tech staff, as the reception can be a bit erratic.

Now to the restaurant - I entertained some friends there on several occasions. The food is sensibly priced, delicious, gastronomically appropriate for a place of this standard, and the service is faultless. You can eat indoors or out, as you require. Equally good.

A word to the wise, though; I noticed that the room cleaning seems to be getting a bit slipshod, with towels not all replaced, bathroom floor not cleaned on occasions, tea and coffee materials not topped up, bogg roll not replaced and other relatively minor issues related to servicing one's accommodations. This happened several days in a row. If it continues it will lead to complaints as I had to actually request what should be replaced as a matter of course. Of itself it's of relatively little moment, but if allowed to slide it may affect the hotel's hard-earned reputation, which would be a shame.

“A truly excellent stay.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

I arrived late on the Friday evening and from the very first instance, I was made to feel very welcome, (they don’t call Thailand the land of smiles for nothing)

I am a seasoned Thailand traveler and have done many of the hotels in and around Sukhumvit and Adelphi has now jumped to my number one position.

There are a few things about this hotel that just really make the difference, granted it is not perfect, but it is certainly a great stay and I would highly recommend it.

The position of the Hotel is perfectly situated on Soi 8 and is right near to the BTS (120 Meter walk). It is also next to two massage places (I prefer the ladies in the purple shirts a little closer to the BTS as they provide a stronger massage) and next door to them is a laundry with a 4hr turn around service!

Adelphi is literally on top of their very own wonderful restaurant named “Monsoon” and their food I thought was very good with fantastic outdoor seating (but make sure you book for the evening slots as it does get very full). Tried mostly Thai food (Som Tam, Chicken Satay, Tom Yum Goon, Green Thai chicken curry and the spring rolls and all of them were flavorsome and spicy to your own taste. However I did decide to have a burger one night (the Monsoon burger) and it was AWESOME.
Also Adelphi provide a breakfast buffet in Monsoon from 7 till 10.30am and it had a wonderful selection that will please most people. (Cooked breakfast / Asian Breakfast / Continental breakfast / loads of fruits and juices. Monsoon also do room service for Adelphi and are very quick indeed and at very reasonable prices.

I went with a standard room and I was very surprised at how spacious and clean it was and the décor was very up to date and tastefully presented. TV is large and flat screen with a good selection of channels including English, Indian and French and HBO and Music channels to keep one entertained.
Each room has its own kitchen area with loads of cutlery / plates etc and a full sized fridge which is wonderful! Loads of draw space for putting your stuff away and also 2 desk areas for doing work.
There is also a sofa area for entertaining or just kicking back. Bed is typically Thai (so a little bit harder than Western standards) but I like that and slept like a baby. My bathroom was very nice and the shower had 2 shower heads and was always warm. Toilet has a washer for those of us who use and the bathroom is well lit with good selection of freebies :P…oh and a hairdryer for the ladies

I was on the 17th floor and heard a little bit of noise from the few little bars downstairs but nothing to keep me awake so don’t think this would be an issue for many.

Room is fully equipped with WIFI and LAN and I was able to connect multiple devises (iPad / iPhone and Laptop) so no dramas there. Also in my experience I could actually get WIFI throughout the entire hotel, even in the Gym, Pool and Restaurant so a well networked hotel in my opinion. For those who don’t bring their own hardware I think there were three free computers with net access downstairs for use in the lobby,

The gym on the 16th floor is fantastic and is very well equip, better than most I have ever seen and there is Aircon, towels and a TV….plus an awesome view over Bangkok. (Photos below)

The only thing I could find to pick a hole in was the pool area;
Believe me, overall the pool area is fantastic, although it is just not big at all (only has 6 loungers, 1 bench seat and a table and chairs with 2 seats) and it get full very very quickly. However it does get morning sun and if you get up early enough you can procure yourself a spot. Also because the pool is not on the top of the hotel is does lose the sun around 1 or 2pm, so for those sun worshippers it might be an issue.

Overall an amazing stay, and is the best 8 nights I have ever spent in BKK. I will definitely be back.

“Wonderful choice in Bangkok”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

We were very pleased with our 9 night stay at the Adelphi Suites. We loved our suite, clean, comfortable, and in a quiet corner on the back side of the hotel. We slept like logs! I can't say enough good things about the staff, all were polite, kind, and accomodating even to the point of going out of their way to see that we had whatever we needed.
The hotel can provide transport to and from the airport which we found very helpful upon arrival. After a very long flight it was nice to exit the airport and just find a sign with my name on it and an air conditioned ride to the hotel, no haggling for price and no dragging luggage. The location is perfect for using public transport, either the BTS (skytrain) or the MRT (subway) is just a short walk from the hotel.
We enjoyed the free breakfast and found the food plentiful and filling and the friendly staff always greeted us with a smile. We even ordered room service for those evenings when we were just too tired to go out after long day of sight seeing and our meals were brought up quickly and always tasted great.
When we had a problem with our washer/dryer unit, the laundry service was offered to us and our clothes were brought back clean and neatly folded. We used both the pool and the gym on the 16th floor and found both to be perfectly adequate for our needs, no complaints here.
We would definitely stay here the next time we are in Bangkok, the Adelphi Suites deserves the Excellent rating from us and we will recommend it highly.

Room Tip: Ask for a corner suite on the back side for a nice and quiet stay.
