After spending 3 weeks in Thailand, we ended our trip with 4 days in Bangkok.
The hotel is up a nice quiet road, considering it's right next to a huge hospital! The only noise you might hear will be from the trains going past every now and again.
We booked a non smoking room....we were put on the 4th floor, however the room smelled of damp, probably due to it not being aired before we arrived, so we asked to be moved.
We we're quickly moved up to the 8th floor, however the room had a disabled shower in, again we asked to be moved.
This time we were moved to the 10th floor...a private floor as the lift only went to the 9th floor,so you had to walk a flight of stairs. The room was lovely, big and clean, with a Queen sized bed. And amazing views of the city.
Breakfast was...well...if you ask for a cooked breakfast prepare for the Thai version eg sausages are more like small hotdogs. There is a decent choice from the cold breakfast buffet though.
The hotel can organize day trips for you....don't. It's supplied by another company and they were awful! We booked a full day trip to the Bridge over the river Kwai and a visit to a Tiger Temple.
We we collected at 6:30am by a small mini bus, which then went on to collect others from different locations in the city. We then traveled for about 2 hours to the War Cemetery, which we got to spend all of 20mins (not long enough at all!!) at before we were whisked away to the bridge, where we spent 30mins at (again not long enough!), to be then taken 30mins away to a waterfall and given an hour there...you only needed 10mins at the waterfall!!!
We then drove 20mins down river to a restaurant and were given lunch.
After lunch we were taken to the Tiger Temple, this place is NOT as it sounds! It's more like a run down zoo with a load of drugged up tigers that are so out of it they're covered in urine, but you can pay £20 to have you picture taken with or splash sticks in water to get their attention and 'play' with them.... i'd give this one a miss if i were you!
It took us 4 hours to get back to the hotel, 8pm we got back after being out since 6:30am, we were only the second drop off too.
We were pretty annoyed that the hotel had been offering these trips when they clearly haven't checked them out, to ensure they are enjoyable for their customers.
Back to the hotel, its clean, friendly, and reasonably quiet. It's in a good location, with a sky train station at the end of the road...which by the way, ISN'T that long to walk down!!! 2mins at a very slow pace!
The staff were friendly and very helpful. We got them to book us a taxi to the airport, which cost 500TBH, this included the toll fee and made sure they were there for 5am. A normal taxi with a meter usually costs around 400TBH.....make sure they use the meter!!!
