“Nice hotel, shame about the street outside!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 July 2011

We stayed here at the end of a three week holiday in Thailand, choosing this hotel because of it's proximity to the major tourist attractions of Bangkok.

The staff were friendly and helpful - the room we were initially given had water all over the floor next to the windows (watch out for leaks if you get 311!) but when we spoke to the receptionist she immediately moved us to a different room with no problems.

The rooms are large and comfortable, the shower was hot and with great water pressure. We'd paid extra for a room with a bath, but this was rather small (I'm 5'9" and couldn't sit with my legs straight out) so in hindsight I'd just go for the shower option.

Breakfast isn't great and the food is left out uncovered, which put me off a little. We tended to stick to toast and fruit, then get something more substantial elsewhere.

The location is the only thing that really lets this place down - taxi drivers struggled to find it unless we gave them a map or the phone number to get directions. The street itself has people drinking and several "ladies of the night" hanging about after dark and a lot of people living rough in the vicinity. I'd have felt nervous going out by myself at night although we didn't experience any problems.

Room Tip: Don't bother with the option of the bath in the room, try to get a rrom on the fifth (top) floor...

“Quiet alternative to busy Khao San Rd.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2011

Quiet, clean, friendly, helpful and honest staff. Rooms are spacious, beds very comfy. Very close to crazy Khaosan Road, the party and backpackers' district, but far quieter.

The breakfast was ok for a middle-range hotel: Toast, fruit, juice, coffee, and they even made eggs to order. A safe is available for free at reception. We had absolutely no problem with the showers. Check-out is at 12 pm, late check-out is available at 100THB per hour.

The only negative point really was the wireless internet that you had to pay for: why can simple guesthouses and hostels offer it for free all over the country, but in so many hotels you have to pay for it?

We tried to get a metered taxi from Hualamphong train station to the hotel and were turned down by several taxis - it's just a 10 mins ride from the station and apparently it doesn't pay for many cabdrivers to take on such short trips... The tuk-tuk drivers were preying on us of course, but we refused, walked around the station and found a taxi that would take us. It was about 100 THB.

“ok but not great!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2011

nice hotel in a great location (near royal palace, khao san road etc.), the area is a bit strange but at least it is not touristy! Staff was very friendly and organised.

Pros: location, reception, room size and clean
cons: noise! (ask for a room that is not on the street)

It is not the best hotel but it is good for short stay in bangkok as it is in the center and rooms are good!

“please DONT stay here. poor room, terrible food , poor staff, good location”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 December 2010

Firstly, I have been to bangkok many times and I am not an ignorant tourist who expects luxury in bangkok. I am not that fussy, I just want safety and cleanliness so I am usually easily pleased! But I was really surprised by how poor this hotel was despite good reviews. I think they must write them themselves. The room was dirty. No safe. The shower was cold everyday and instead of moving us or fixing it ,they asked me to shower in somebodys dirty bathroom where someone else had just checked out!! They didnt give me a new room!! The breakfast was inedible!! Disgusting!! Some stale toast and what we thought might be dried scrambled egg, jam and bad coffee. Thats it! Even if you stay in the budget bungalows on kao san road you get pancakes, french toast , waffles etc etc. The staff werent friendly and the doors arent manned or locked at night, which means it wouldnt be too hard to break into your room. I coudnt believe how the photos of this place made it look good!! It looks like a dump! The stinking back street is hard to find. The only benefit to this place is that the beds were actually fairly comfortable and the location is close to kao san and the palace. I would however recommend you to find a far nicer hotel for the same money somewhere else. There are plenty of quality and safe hotels in Silom or nearer the kao san.

“Decent location, three star hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 November 2010 via mobile

Boonsiri is only a short walk from khaosan road (5 mins). Approximately 50 mins from the airport.

This is standard accommodation, clean, but nothing special.
