I've been staying here 2-3 times a year for about 3 years now just because it is near our Bangkok office. And for me that is it's main problem - location. Yes, the nearest MRT station is about 3-5 minutes walk. But from then on its a succession of looong MRT & BTS rides to get to the city "proper". If you do a lot of shopping, this is not the hotel to be staying in as you will be left lugging around all your things inside the trains and that 3-5 minute walk back to the hotel; unless you take a cab which could sometimes be cheaper, depending on time & traffic. There is a shopping mall and supermarket a few MRT stations away, though. And that huge weekend market is also a few stations away going the opposite direction. But Sukhumvit is a long way off.
Its a modern-looking place. The rooms here are nice, clean & roomy. Though in some rooms, the bathrooms are really tiny. Breakfast used to be great, but recently it's been taken down a few notches. This hotel is also quite popular as venue for company workshops & seminars, meetings and party receptions. When this happens, you don't get your usual buffet breakfast but a la carte.
Staff are friendly enough. Internet status differs depending on the floor - some floors you get WiFi, on some you don't, and have to use a cable.
It's a comfortable enough place to stay in, but not so quiet. That main highway is just outside your window (if your facing that way).
If I'm coming to Bangkok and going to our office a lot, I'd probably stay here for the convenience. If its the shopping and the action of Sukhumvit you're going for, its best you look for something in that area.
