“Good average 4 star..deffo not a 5 star”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

Location;
Great- as it right beside bars, restaurants, shopping, Skytrain, etc. but yet it is still quiet.
Soi 6 is about 200m from Sukhumvit and Nana Skytrain station. Perfect for getting around Bangkok. I picked this mainly for the location and the price offered was very good.

Reception;
Was fine but I have had better. My room was not ready at 13.30 and I had to wait an hour for it to be so.

Room;
It was an odd shape. I prefer open large rooms and this was really 2 corridors with a small bedroom. See the photos. The seating/TV area did not appeal to me at all. I asked to be changed. The 2nd room was not as big...I think I was downgraded! (?).
Bed comfort was very good and the bathroom was spotless.
Big minus. The TV remote for the bedroom is a cheap flimsy thing which means you can not choose your channel. If you want, say, channel 25 you have to press 25 times!! Messy and so out of date.

Food;
I can't really review as I had only a tea and a not so good dry chocolate cake (unfinished) in the cafe. The cafe needs atention to offer more and a better quality choice.
I had a look at the dinner buffet which has a good choice and presented well.

Pool;
This is lovely and a good place to chill. The entrance to it is dreadful and management need to sort this asap.

Service;
Average and what I would have espected. I however would have expected a complimentary coffee/tea because of the delay but it wasn't offered. Bags were not taken to the room promptly and when my GF arrived 2 days later I actually had to go and take her bags myself!

Overall;
As said this is not in the league of the 5 stars such as, The Oriental, The Banyan Tree, Shangri-La, The Penninsula, or Sofitel 4 of which I have stayed in. The Landmark, where I have also stayed, around the corner is a 4 star and more than equal to The Grand.

Overall;
The Grand is a decent average large 4 star that has a few issues. The price was attractive but when we returned to Bkk we did not stay and vouched for another 4 star not a million metres away and found this much nicer.

“Cheapest & Best in Bangkok”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

One of the best Hotels to stay in Bangkok. Best located, have in the near vicinity Indian Vegetarian Restaurant, Metro Rail Connectivity, Easy drive to Airport and at reasonable distance from most of the places of tourist interest in Bangkok. Excellent staff and homely atmosphere. Good food facility and gorgeous swimming pool. Excellent rooms with adequate sitting space, nice window view. Precisely, the cheapest and best option to stay in Bangkok.

Room Tip: Choose a room where windows open towards east

“Convenient Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

Paid S$270 for 3 nights stay for 2pax(Agoda). Hotel very close to Nana BTS which is very convenient for shopping.10mins walk away from Terminal 21,and 2 stops(BTS) from Centrpoint. The hotel was great for the price we paid. We paid for Deluxe King room,but got bumped up to a suite which was cool. Room and toilet was clean,but wished they provided plastic mineral water bottles daily,instead of glass bottles. Bed was very comfortable. Did not bring toothpaste with me,and had to request for toothbrush kit from room service. This was a bit disappointing as it should be the a standard item.Buffet breakfast was alright,choices are pretty limited. Tour desk was also very helpful in planning day trips for us. The lifts are painfully slow,and this means waiting up to 7mins for a lift. There is no real view in Bangkok,you just see other old buildings,so how high up you are really doesn't matter. Overall,this is a great place to stay if you are interested in a Good,clean place at reasonable price, with cheap shopping(both Shopping centres & roadside stalls),cheap massages,and cheap eats nearby.

Room Tip: Rooms close to the lift might be a bit noisy.
