“Dated and out of the way, but great public areas”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

I recently stayed here for 4 nights. The room I had, which was apparently one of the recently refurbished ones, was spacious, pleasantly decorated and comfortable. It did however look a little dated in places and there was rust around the bathtub. They also gave someone else the same room half an hour after I checked in - that gave me a shock when someone swiped a key card to get in! Needless to say they were reprimanded for that.

I was here for a conference and the facilities for that were excellent. We made us of the meeting rooms and the ballroom and private meal space. All of which was new and well presented. The gardens and pool area were lovely.

There is a nice bar which had nightly entertainment from a couple who sang a very wide-ranging collection of songs. The staff were always pleasant and helpful.

The hotel itself is a hot and humid 10 minute walk to the nearest MRT station, which will run you down to the shopping centres. However, if you want to get to places like the Grand Temple and the cultural places by the river it is a good 45 minutes in a stop start taxi.

Overall, for business where you don't need to leave, this is a great hotel, but if you want to go sightseeing then stay closer to the temple complexes.

Oh, and watch the mosquitoes - they were everywhere inside in the evenings :-(

Room Tip: I don't think any of them have really good views, so a high floor is your best option.

“Fantastic Location but Faded Glory”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

With a great downtown location this hotel has so many assets, such as the beautifully landscaped grounds, that it's a shame that the worn & weary rooms let it down. I recently stayed here for x6 nights and despite changing rooms I never could get the air conditioning nor shower temperatures right! Many of the rooms are currently undergoing refurbishment but the whole place needs a major overhaul...but please leave the gardens as they are!!

Room Tip: Ask for a newly refurbished room

“Fading splendour”

Originally a Hilton built in the 60s it's now showing its age - particularly faulty thermostat on air conditioning which, after two uncomfortable nights, was eventually replaced. Plenty of smiling staff, not all with understanding of English. However all is fully compensated by wonderful grounds and pool.

Room Tip: Modest premium for Business Executive rooms with Lounge access well worth paying.

“Wonderful garden sets this place apart from the rest”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

The Swissotel chain is a chain of mostly 5* hotels, all of good quality. The Nail Lert Park hotel is on Wireless road about 5-10 min from the nearest skytrain, so location is good. If you come by taxi from the airport, ask for the Nai Lert Park hotel, as they seem to know that name better.

Check-in was efficient as usual. Although we had to wait for the room (we arrived several hours before advertised check-in, on New Year's Eve), when we returned from a quick shopping trip our bags had already been placed in the room, which was nice.

The hotel style is modern-ish with lots of dark wood, rooms are a good size with comfortable beds, and a big window (note: check the window is locked properly, the cleaning staff often seem to leave it unlocked). The desk is a good size, and there is an in-room safe (just takes a small 11.6in laptop but nothing larger - this could be a suggestion for improvement) .

Bathrooms are excellent of course.

The standout feature of this hotel is the tropical garden - it is amazingly relaxing to sit under the trees and have a mango juice. Although there are certainly more expensive hotels in Bangkok, the garden's trees, ferns, water features with fish swimming in the ponds etc. elevate this place above the norm for 'luxury' hotels in my opinion. Price is often surprisingly reasonable.

Highly recommended.

“Great location and lovely garden, but lots of service issues”

We have been frequent visitors over the years to NaiLert Park and I have to say that the hotel was much better run when it was a Hilton. We love the garden area and I am an enthusiastic user of the tennis courts, so this makes up for the other failings.
The rooms while a good size are definitely getting very tired and we found lots of small product faults which should have been fixed. Room cleaning was not good.
Good bed and a good sleep.
Wifi is paid and OK
In Thailand service is never bad, but one got the sense that hotel staff had other issues on their mind.
Terrible Chinese restaurant, but the (outside the front of the hotel) coffee house was good.
This said we got a good rate, so the overall value was good.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the garden, some of the rooms at the back can be very noisy because of th...
