“Lucked out at Luxx”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2011

A leading UK newspaper gave a good report on Luxx. Later I discussed this with the hotel but they said that they knew nothing of this particular review. On the hotel's web site, a week's booking brings a discount. So, at short notice I was please to be able to reserve a suite at 21,000 Bt., for the week 24th to 31st.
Unfortunately the room [really hardly a "suite" just a long room divided by glass doors], was very tired. The soft furnishings need to be cleaned and the rug thrown out. The whole looked very dingy, but I was able to improve on that when I had housekeeping change many broken lights the next morning.
I am a sports fan, and was very disappointed to find that the channels available did not include either CNN; BBC; ESPN or TRUE. Asia news was available as was El Jazzeera, and when I asked for any information as to what was on what channel [many are "black"], I was told they they did not have this. So I said "I can't believe I am the first to ask"? The answer, "yes".
The location towards the bottom part of Silom places it near some budget and student type accommodation in Decho Rd. Do not expect to be able to find a convenience store nearby. The small shop 2 doors down, has little stock unless you are in to too much salt or sugar.
Lastly, the "outlook" is dull and the windows have been sealed so no "fresh air" for the duration of your stay.
Must say that the chap who stands guard on the main door really tried his very best to be helpful and kind.

“It's true, they're spacious, stylish and private.”

The website was attractive and functional. I find the layout of the rooms to be very helpful. The reservation process was quick and easy. Still needs improvement to make it an exceptionally great website.

The frontline staff were very friendly. Not all can speak good English but there are 1 or 2 who can. They're accommodating and helpful. I was provided with information on where to go and what to do in Bangkok upon checking in. They printed their own city map which was good and useful. You can use it to find your way around the city or showed it to the taxi driver or tuk tuk as a guide to bring you back to the hotel.

I chose the cheapest room. It was 'compact' and cosy. Room decoration was kinda zen and quite stylish. The ceiling to floor window looks out to the other building. It's a room made more for sleeping than staying. During my stay, the toilet seat plumbing kept gurgling loudly at regular intervals. It was kinda annoying.

The hotel has no elevators yet. Was told that there are plans to install one in the future. To my surprised, they had carpeted staircase. Carpeted staircase eliminates noise. Throughout my stay, I barely heard any noises from guests or staff walking around. The only noises that I heard was from the construction work nearby.

Location wise, it was suitably far from the hustle and bustle of Silom road yet close enough to walk. Train stations were not conveniently close by. I love to walk so it's not a big deal for me.

While there are some lapses in service and facilities my overall experience with Luxx has been wonderful. I truly enjoyed my stay there. One of things that I liked most at Luxx was the privacy. I barely met any other guests or staff. There are no staff knocking on my door asking if they can clean the room. The free room service breakfast was an added bonus. It's quite a spread too (for me).

The only sticking point about Luxx is the location. While the location is acceptably near to train stations, a closer location would be more convenient for guests who commutes by train regularly.

“Great Boutique hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 August 2010

Really enjoyed our stay here, a great welcome, ( they let us check in early, always a plus after a long flight!). The decor is contemporary and original. The location, near the skytrain and not far from the river is convenient too. It's a small place so don't expect big hotel service (or a lift!). The room service breakfast at no additional cost was good.

“modern place in the middle of lifely silom”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 August 2010

this boutique hotel is nicely located with short was to bars and restaurants. it's very modern, clean and has some stylish bathrooms! the staff is friendly but could spoken a little more english. the breakfast is very good and comes to your room without surcharge. it's the perfect place for the ones who avoid the large hotels.

“Awesome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 June 2010

I have absolutely no complaints about this hotel and only wonderful things to say!
It was a quality adventure - especially considering the price.
I checked in for 4 days and ended up staying 9 because I liked it so much.
Staff excellent. Location great. Service fantastic.
Great bed and great pillows! Quality linens and towels. I was happy to just hang in my room.
If I was pressed for a negative it would only be the limited selection of television channels. Internet has high speed.
The design and style is not for families or Holiday Inn types on a budget. Thankfully there also where no western sex-pat types either.
This is the type of place you want to keep as a secret so it wont be ruined by the masses!!!
WHile the term "boutique" hotel is totally over used - this is a true boutique hotel.
12 rooms in what I can only describe as a Philip Stark sort of theme.
It is the only place I will stay in BKK from now on.
Thank you Luxx.
Namaste.
PS. Let me know if you ever want to sell it?
