Ibrik City charms with its simplicity. It has only three rooms in a quaint terrace house off Sathorn Road. The ambience is relaxed and cosy, a nice place to escape the maddening crowd.
Its location is quite convenient with the Surasak BTS station less than five minutes stroll away. But getting there from the airport can be stressful. The taxi driver did not know where Ibrik was even though I showed him the map! Took us about 15 minutes driving around the neighbourhood before we found it!
Here’s a useful tip so you won’t get lost like I did: Ibrik is at the end of a narrow alley beside the Blue Elephant Restaurant.
The Emerald room which I stayed in on New Year’s eve for two nights, was huge and comfortable with a king-sized bed and a large bathroom in an “outdoor garden setting”. Plenty of natural light and airy. There is a safe in the large built-in closet so you can store your valuables. There are also coffee and tea making facilities, mini bar and complimentary bottles of water.
Breakfast is included in the rate and is served in the room or in a common dining area. The breakfast is run of the mill – the usual toast and butter, eggs and ham. Pleasant, but plain. I regret I did not order coffee as one of the reviews here mentioned that it was good.
Overall, I give Ibrik top marks for good service (all my requests were met promptly and with a smile), cleanliness, convenient location and value for money. It is definitely one of the better small hotels in Bangkok!
