“Mostly good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

We spent our last night in Thailand here before flying home. Our trip had started in Bangkok but downtown so we wanted a night by the river to finish. This is a great hotel to do just that.

We booked an executive suite which we thought was good value and a stunning room with great views down the river. We found the executive lounge to be very civilized and a little different from others we have used. They have tablets as opposed to computers, canapes are served as opposed to a help yourself buffet and there is a chef there to cook your eggs for you at breakfast. We loved it and it was great to watch Bangkok light up at night beneath us.

Only two niggles - the river was less than fragrant when we were there and also the concierge took it upon himslef to agree a fixed fare with the taxi driver on our way back to the airport. It wasn't much more than the meteerd fare would have been but it is our choice and not his!

“Average hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

As a Diamond member and a frequent international traveler I have to say I was dissapointed with this hotel. We were in an Executive King which has a very nice view of the river but the room is all bed and there is not enough space to store your clothes. We were there for 6 nights and felt very cramped. The executive lounge was average at best. It did not compare at all to the lounges in the Kuala Lumpur or Tokyo Hilton properties. The overall service was average as well. Not once was my Diamond status acknowledged. If you are expecting a top hotel and top service then you might be dissapointed. Also, we were advised that since we had an executive room that we could have 4 pieces of laundry done a day. When we checked out they had charged us for all the laundry. When I complained they simply showed me letter that they said I got when I signed in ( I never read it) that says you get 2 pieced per person PRESSED not laundered. The price is the same but the woman was almost rude in stating that I should have read the letter. Management this is not acceptable. We were late to the airport so I did not have time to argue. Also, the "tips" on restaurants by the concierge were all bad. We asked for the best restaurants in several food venues and were dissapointed with all of them. A tip, do not plan on getting good beef in Thailand. Go for the pork or chicken dishes. The free shuttle boat to the sky train was nice and it was very easy to get to downtown on the train. There is a local department store call Robinsons not far from the hotel that has a long row of street vendors selling hot foods. It was a little scary but there are several with hot pots at the table which were very good.

“Impeccable Service!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

We have stayed at many hotels during our travels but this one really is in our top 3. Service was top notch from the moment we entered the hotel. One could be apprehensive about service especially at a large chain hotel, but Hilton Bangkok did a great job. They were always polite and helped us with a smile. On our last day, we were waiting at the elevator to go down to the lobby to check out. When the door opened, one of the hilton employees was going down as well. Without hesitation, he offered his service to take our luggage and call us a taxi to the airport. We're not sure where or what he was doing or was on his way to do, but he definitely made it seem like we were his only important task. The staff at the boat dock was great as well. They were always aware and lending a helping hand if a guest needed assistance to board or unboard the boat.

Food was also good. It was expensive but tasty. Breakfast buffet had a huge selection of asian and western choices. One night, we ordered in room dining since all of their restaurants had already closed. We ordered some Thai dishes and we loved it. The next night, we ate at Prime Steakhouse where service was attentive and polite and the steaks were excellent.

The rooms were standard Hilton quality but was always clean and comfortable. We would definitely stay here again.

“Small Rooms, great views of the river”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

By the time we arrived in at the hotel and checked in there was just 15 minutes left at the Executive Lounge happy hour. The woman who checked us in told me my sandals weren't "smart". We went anyway and my sandals held there own with the other 10 people in the lounge.
The bathroom was probably half the size of our room. Not that we didn't have an adequately sized room, large enough for a King bed and partitioned area behind for a desk. The view was INCREDIBLE. The river below and the city lights, just lovely. Our room wasn't as large as the Conrad in Singapore, comparable with the Paris Hilton near the Arch de Triomphe.
