“Noisy rooms, terrible breakfast!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 February 2012

This hotel is located on the main road, and has a sign outside which is quite recognisable. The first thing you see when arriving at the hotel is the car park and outdoor seating area, which separates the hotel from the restaurant that the hotel gets it's food from (and serves breakfast from). The reception looks decent compared to the outside, and the staff seemed pleasant enough to talk to.

The room I was given was in the building opposite the reception (on the same side as the restaurant) and was on the third of the three floors. The rooms are decorated in a minimalistic style with wooden floors and some kind of concrete finish on the walls. The size of the bedroom wasn't bad, though I was woken up each morning at 7am by the cleaning ladies as the walls seem to have been built with cardboard (very noisy!). There wasn't an iron or ironing board in the room upon arrival, but they brought one to the room after I called and asked for one.

The bathrooms are quite small but relatively clean. The door for the shower didn't fully close in my room so the bathroom floor got a little wet whenever I used it.

After my first night, I went to the breakfast at a quite late time of 9:00am (the breakfast runs from 6-10am as far as I'm aware). There was one guy who was "serving" the breakfast and he looked like he didn't care, and had headphones in both of his ears, listening to music the whole time! There was basically no food left, no tea or coffee either, and we weren't the only people there. Eggs and mini hot dogs were the only food that was left and were cold and nasty. I didn't stay more than 5 minutes and didn't even bother with breakfast the following morning.

Overall, I would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone. The hotel is ok for the price, and the location is ok (5 minute walk to the Petchaburi MRT station), but the breakfast was appalling. There are much better hotels to stay at than this place - avoid!

Room Tip: Not sure, but if all rooms are like the one I had, then bring ear plugs!

“A little disappointed, but still decent value...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

I stayed at this hotel about 5 years back and was quite happy as the rooms were clean and service was good. Decided to stay a few days to spend new year in Bangkok.

I guess the hotel must have been quite a popular choice, as its quite run-down now and the furniture is drab. The bit about joining 2 single beds to make a queen (or king) is true.Wifi seems to be a problem as it's totally unreliable.

To be fair, this hotel still has decent value and the staffs are quite helpful. My shower was flooded and they repaired it by the time I got back from shopping. I must say the staffs there are keen to help.

This place is suitable if you're traveling with friends just to hang out in Bangkok for a few days. For couples or shoppers, there are more choices for around the Sukhumvit area for a slightly higher price. But probably worth the money.

Room Tip: Bangkok has lots of boutique hotels which are around the more strategic locations. Book early and yo...

“Great room with okay service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

The hotel is close enough to the Petchaburi metro stop (5 minute walk) and the skytrian (10 minute walk). There is a 7 11 just two doors down but not too many restaurants that are close. It is 1.3 kilometers from Sukhumvit.

If taking a taxi tell them Sukhumvit 21 and Petchaburi as the first 3 cabbies didn't understand the address listed on their website.

The staff is not easy to communicate with partly because their English is not that good and also they're lacking the basic knowledge of customer service. We asked for a taxi for our 4am departure and after speaking with all 3 shifts the day before, they had no idea what we were talking about. Just blank stares until we showed them the note on the desk.

The room itself was amazing. Large bathroom with separate shower stall including hot water. The bed was two beds pushed together but it was comfortable enough. There's a safe, mini fridge and a nice tv. The wifi worked most of the time (3rd floor room).

The breakfast was somewhat pathetic so we only ate there 1 day out of our 6 days there. The beer garden was comfortable with live music every night. Although on the weekends you can hear the music until 3-5am. We asked the restaurant for ice but they refused as they are not part of the hotel (eventhough the reception told us to get ice from them).

Overall a great room if you don't want to get personalized attention and if you don't mind walking to everything.

“Not terrible but not fantastic”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2011

Our booking was for a superior room with free breakfast. We requested a double bed, smoking room & got neither. The staff just pushed the two twin beds together, which would have been okay if one of the beds wasn't an inch higher than the other. The beds are also as hard as rocks. The room has large, glass sliding doors, but they can't be opened. You get 2 free bottles of water every day.

The room is simple but nice. There's the bed, the mini-fridge, a desk, and a shelf. There's also a cabinet with a safe inside.

Skip the breakfast. There's nothing redeeming about it except the toast (white) & jam.

The staff is pleasant & friendly, but when we had laundry done, they returned it at 1a.m. But they did call first, I assume to make sure we were awake.

There was a birthday party being hosted in the "garden" on the night of our arrival that lasted until midnight, possibly later. Often there is live music down in the garden, which can barely be heard in the room, so it is not bothersome. We haven't heard any noise from traffic in the mornings or at night.

The Wifi is unreliable. The 3rd floor connection inevitably quits working around 11:30p.m. and doesn't work in the morning. You can connect through the lobby signal, but it's weak & slow. There's a nice flat screen TV on the wall, though most of the channels are in Thai (not to be unexpected).

The shower is excellent. Good water pressure, and it stays warm the whole time.

It's about a 10 minute walk to the SkyTrain- not too far. There are a couple of restaurants nearby & it's very close to the newest shopping mall.

“Good location, average room”

I stayed for one night only- my booking was for superior room with king bed and it also stated the room included "DVD player" as one of the amenities...but at check-in, I found the room with 2 single beds instead with no sight of dvd player...when i requested them for room switch with king bed the front desk checked about 5 minutes & replied none available...so that was quite disappointing. When asking staff why no DVD player I got the reply "please contact front desk" :-(

Overall the room size was good enough & spacious for one person (at 21 sq. m), bathroom was good size with large standing shower, the only down side didn't have any toothbrush kit (should be standard amenities these days). Closet is really tiny, its a small wooden box so if you have more than 4 shirts/tops don't think will fit.

Lighting is on the dim side, so not good for reading in the night.

Walls are a bit thin, could hear people walking up& down the stairway and in the halls.

Location is a plus- it's nearby Emporium shopping complex & Terminal 21 mall, though walking to asoke bts station is quite far (about 15-20 min). Hotel is also close to Health Land message asoke branch (abt 5-10 min walking distance).

There is a 7-11 store right next to hotel (20 sec walk) which is very convenient if you need a late night snack or beverage.

I concur with earlier reviews it can get a bit noisy in the morning with cars passing by outside the main road...so if you're a light sleeper please be ware....

Didn't get to try the b/fast so can't comment on it.

Overall it is a decent choice for the good price rate I paid.
