We stayed for 3 nights towards the end of January in a Grande Superior room (i.e. the most basic type.) We were very happy with the room, which was spacious, very comfortable and nicely furnished. The bathroom was really nice, with a good bath with shower over. Decent toiletries were provided and replaced daily. The hairdryer worked well. Tea & coffee making facilities were also provided. A digital safe is provided free of charge.
We had booked as room only and did not eat at the hotel at all, so cannot comment on the restaurant.
The swimming pool was fairly small, but as is to be expected for city centre hotels. This was late in the afternoon, and all sunbeds around the pool were taken. There was a lovely big hot jacuzzi, and a steam room and sauna. These were female only - I assume there were similar separate facilities for males. I only used these once, between about 5pm and 6pm, and was very surprised to be the only person using them.
On the corner where the hotel's road joins the main road is a small shopping centre containing a few cafes, a McDonalds and a supermarket.
Although the hotel isn't located in the best part of the city, it's only a few minutes' walk to the skytrain station. A couple of stops down the line you come to the Siam Centre station, where you will find huge shopping centres containing many restaurants.
(WARNING:- Do not go to the floating markets at Damnoen Saduak. We booked a trip there through one of the concierges at the hotel. He actually drove us there using one of the hotel cars for a fee of 2500 Bahts (over £50) for the 2 of us (which I feel was quite excessive), and then once we got there we were charged another 1500 Bahts (over £30) each to go on a boat through the market. I felt we had been completely ripped off, and would strongly advise against going there - see my separate review on it. I was extremely unimpressed. )
