We stayed here twice, 1 night each time.
Room - the first night we stayed they only had a few double rooms left and it ended up being the rooms overlooking Khaosan Road. The staff did warn us that they weren't the quietest rooms but we took them anyway and paid the price. Luckily we were used to the noise from staying at Khaosan Palace for 3 nights previously so had a reasonable sleep. If I never hear Rhianna's "we found love in a hopeless place" again I will be so happy and it (and other radio hits) gets played on the hour by most of the bars all night long.
The next time we stayed we were smart enough to ask for a quiet luxury room which was much better but major drawback - the room vaguely smelled of urine. As we were exhausted from travelling all day and we knew the hotel was full, we basically just put up with it. Our friends had the same sort of room as ours and they were perfectly fine and really happy with it. So I think we just got unlucky. It would make me hesitate to stay here again though as there are many places to choose from.
Location - D&D is right on Khaosan Road so it really depends what your after from your trip. K Rd is an experience. It's also close to the Grand Palace and the river and some of the wats.
Value - excellent value for what it is. There are much cheaper places about but the rooms do reflect that and D&D's rooftop pool set up can't be beat.
Breakfast - This does get busy so go early if you can drag yourself out of bed.
Service - we actually had quite good service here. The staff were helpful and friendly. They also let us store our baggage for a few hours on a day that we weren't even staying there - for free. And it was all still there when we came back - bonus.
Room Tip: Ask for the quiet luxury rooms and get to the breakfast early. It's ok to go for breakfast late...
