“Good base to explore Bangkok”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

This is a good hotel close to the action in Nana, with plenty of restaurants, bars and shopping nearby and close to two Skytrain stations.
The rooms are large but the decor needs updating. The staff were very helpful providing us with lots of useful advice.
It wasn't luxurious but it was comfortable and a great base for exploring Bangkok.
The rooftop pool is great.

Room Tip: Ask for a corner room. Use the rooftop pool.

“Good but Could be Better!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

I stayed 8 nights in the Zenith Hotel, a property that I know since the opening and having stayed there in the past for almost one year in a row, having made it in the past home away from home.
The property was well conceived with its 160 rooms, wide corridors and lavish deco from its early days and further enhanced through its refitting and refurbishment, which addressed the right issues and took care of them.
The management is caring and pays attention to detail, though this trip I noticed that many new staff had replaced the trusted faces and kind and outstanding characters from the past, the girl in charge f receiving guests in the morning for breakfast was more concerned about her make up and gossiping with fellow employees rather then greeting and meeting the guest in the morning, very poorly trained staff during the breakfast service in every aspect of the service rendering. Management would be well advised to look into the issues there, as the breakfast at the Zenith used to be great, but has been downgraded due to the large influx of Middle Eastern clients, which makes the pink-white guy a clear minority. This is also noticed in the offerings, where cold cuts and cheese used to be be available, all that is gone and the client is subjected to Halal food all the way, which is not every ones cup of tea.
By the way the management is advised to resume tea and coffee service, which has been downgraded to self service, which is really a had thing to balance together wih your food, let alone the refill scenario.
The rooms could do with at least a 33 inch flat panel TV and TV signals that work, which was not always the case during my stay, but they tried to get it corrected and signals were given of acknowledgement of the situation.
This is a great hotel in a great location, WIFI needs to be free off charge in the rooms, yet it is free and available in public areas, a better client mix could be suggested, yet having Bumrungrad Hospital at a distance of less than two minutes walking kind of makes it hard for the sales force to shy away from such a lucrative feeder market.
I will continue to stay there, as I love the location the great views, the management and after sme correction at the front desk, F&B in terms of service attitude, I am sure that the other aspects will be addressed in the future.
It is great value for money and certainly this property does not compare to any of the surrounding hotels, as the Royal Benja and the Grace Hotel nearby are just dirty boxes with horrible service and environment. Access by BTS and taxi is perfect coming from the airport or going there, as it takes on good days 20 minutes or so and certainly would recommend the property among other reasons.
Well maintained and clean, high level of security and top honest and dedicated room attendants, with attention to detail, the pool on the very top floor is exclusive and fantastic for an afternoon on the Bangkok beach front, with almost attentive pool attendants at times.
Great views and sky gazing benefits of a very busy Bangkok surrounding the hotel, yet being an oasis of calm at the very top and in the rooms.
last but not least the restaurant offerings for lunch and dinner are superb offerings being great value for money and yet ever so inventive with sumptuous delights, such as steak month with fantastic steak and great menu's.
All in all a great little boutique hotel that simply needs to get tweaked and tuned ever so often t keep its shiny place at the forefront of smaller properties with high potential, can only recommend it and have stayed there since 1995 countless times and will continue to do so.

Room Tip: Choose the Corner rooms or suites of the hotel, plenty of space, light and low noise comfort, beside...

“Back again after 7 years”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 November 2011

My wife and I stayed at the Zenith, Bangkok for 5 nights in October 2011. Our booking was for a superior room inc breakfast and cost £208 via agoda.com.

Our room was situated on the 14th floor. It was a good size so we were surprised to find that the hanging and drawer space were somewhat limited (the drawers that were available were small and shallow (and one contained the permanently-fixed hairdryer) and almost half the wardrobe was taken up with these drawers and the (electronic) safe.)

The bed was large and comfortable and the air-con worked ok. There was a writing desk, a coffee table and 2 chairs, a mini-bar/fridge and kettle (with supplies). The TV had a good selection of English-speaking channels including BBC World and CNN.

A multiplug adapter, bathrobe and two pairs of slippers were also provided. A small fruit basket was in the room on arrival and two complimentary bottles of water were delivered daily.

The bathroom was clean, modern and a good size with a large well-lit mirror. There was a full-sized bath with (good) shower, toilet and washbasin. Bath sundries (shower gel, shampoo, bodylotion, soap, cottonbuds, shower-hat, detergent and tissues) were replenished daily. Towels (bath and hand - no facecloths) were clean but old-looking and were replaced daily.

The lobby was on the 5th floor and there was a rooftop pool (jacuzzi area under renovation). Staff were very helpful (with painless check-in and check-out procedures) and dealt with a small maintenance problem that we had swiftly and efficiently. The breakfast area was spacious with an additional attractive outside terrace. Breakfast consisted of a reasonable Western and Arabic selection including an individual egg-chef and items were replenished right up to the end of the breakfast period (10am).

We chose this hotel because it was well-positioned near Nana skytrain station. Unfortunately the Foodland supermarket that we had used for groceries and eating in soi 5 was no longer there, however we found the Robinsons complex provided a decent alternative (to both) although it was a 10 - 15 minute walk depending on the amount of pedestrian traffic. In addition the number of local eateries in the area had been improved since our last visit and we discovered bars that we had not visited before (in sois 4 and 8). We would be happy to recommend The Busstop (soi 4) for friendly service, reasonable prices, good food and pleasant surroundings (free bookswap upstairs), The Bamboo Bar (just a few doors down from the Zenith) offering a free late-night buffet on Fridays and also the Sunrise Tacos Mexican restaurant (on the Sukhumvit road between soi 12 & soi 14) for a very good range of cheap but tasty fare (indoor and outdoor seating available). We found a cheap internet place on the 5th floor of a building on the opposite side of the street near the junction with Sukhumvit Road (entrance next to 7-11) charging 1baht per minute but 45 baht for an hour.

Overall we were very pleased with the hotel and its location and would have no hesitation in recommending it. We have previously stayed in hotels in soi 5 and were pleased that on this visit we had chosen accommodation elsewhere as (major) building works were taking place in various parts of the soi.

Room Tip: The higher the floor the better the view

“good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 October 2011

stayed 2 nights in superior room - v reasonable rates via web booking through UK agency. In a very busy and diverse area of the city with Nana Sky train station round the corner. Thai community mixes comfortably with Middle Eastern community giving this a dynamic and quirky place to stay including a lebanese/russian restaurant! Shisha bars, sex workers, great cheap restaurants and markets stalls make this part of Bangkok vibrant and fun, sit out with a beer or iced coffee to watch the world go by. I didn't feel unsafe walking around alone and recommend Sky train to Siam shopping centre - crazy busy! Rooms large and great views, breakfast bit limited. Staff helpful and friendly, a good place to start your visit and get oriented.

Room Tip: ask for superior

“Nice place - but you get get the same for cheaper”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 October 2011

We really enjoyed our stay at the Zenith. The rooms are big and clean. The pool is great and usually not many people up there.

There are A LOT of Arabs staying there.. Definitely a majority. As Canadians that don't cover our bodies up they did stare at us a lot.

The pool staff were great.. we had some guests come us with us and all they asked is that we buy a couple drinks.

It was a nice hotel.. but when we went to visit my dad at The Royal Benja across the block his room was just as nice but half the price.. so we stayed there when we returned to Bangkok.

Room Tip: clean, bright, spacious rooms but not the best value
