The wife (Thai) booked it as we had a function to go to nearby.
When I went to check in the price I was charged was 400Baht more expensive than originally quoted. The reason for the price increase because I was a westerner. I am used to double pricing having lived in Thailand for more than 10 years, but this is the first time I have heard of it for hotels. The increase though not sounding much was a 25% increase.
After trying to get the price quoted & getting nowhere we just accepted it, and then they informed us that the hotel had no power & would be off most of the day. The lifts did work, but that was about it.
Not able to stay in the room and relax as there was no aircon decided to spend a few hours by the pool. Part of the pool is roped off, it appears as though people were entering the pool in the shallow area, not noticing it was quite a steep slope and looked dangerous. There is a small hut next to the pool either for serving drinks or issuing towels, though this appears not to have been used in a while & it’s not possible to get service whilst by the pool.
Back to the room & still no power, getting ready for a night function, the shower had two options cold or scolding hot & no in between, so cold showers for all.
When we returned on the night we finally had power, for 7 hours that we were there it was off so no idea how long it had been off. Turned on the TV to relax & had approx 6 stations, 1 BBC news, a sport channel with Thai commentary, 1 Japanese I assume & the remainder where Thai so no choice for a traveler.
A good selection for breakfast both western & Thai, although all food served was cold & gave up waiting for coffee to be served so served myself even though there were only 2 other people in the room this early in the morning.
The hotel is isolated, unless working nearby, for tourists it has nothing to offer, a 15-20 minute taxi ride to either Sky train or underground. Same distance for a decent shopping mall.
The only positive is that the staff was friendly. Would definitely not stay here again, a 45-50 minute taxi ride back towards Sukhumvit would be a better option.
