“great value for cheap rate, close to train station&chinatown”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

I booked this hotel because out flight was leaving at 2 am and we wanted to stay in the hotel to relax and take a shower. And the room rate was exactly what I needed... a bargain...
The location is within walking distance to the main train station and it takes 15 minutes by tuk-tuk to get to the airport train station. Siam Square is also easy to reach.
The room was large, average furniture and a large bathroom. Everything was clean, but far from new. Breakfast was quite limited but okay if you don't expect a feast.
The pool as good even though the water was a bit hazy.
All in all the hotel met our expectations...they were not high...same as the room rate...

“self rated?”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

The hotel is very large and the staff at the front of the hotel and reception are quite helpful. The rooms (we had deluxe) were very large but rather average. Sure it was a king size bed but it was comfortable at all. The room was clean but very outdated. We were expecting more for the price we paid. We paid a visit to the Thai restaurant next to the pool. The food was very nice and quite honesty we can't fault it. Next time we will do a little more research into the location. There is no where within walking distance to go to. I took a stroll in the afternoon to the 7-11 about five minutes down the road and to be honest I didn't feel very safe at all. Breakfast was average - but definately room for improvement. Overall I do not think I will be staying there again.

“Cheap, great service and good food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

Chose this hotel to host my husband's 30th birthday party in one of the private room in the sukiyaki hotpot resturant. The hotel is pretty much right in the middle of Bangkok and was easy for all my family members to get to. Cheap, great service and good food. Will be back for other occasions

“Huge hotel, good location, old furniture”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

The hotel is huge, the lobby amazes. 10 years ago it was a fantastic hotel, I bet. Now it is one of the others & it is getting older & older, as well as furniture, walls, shower, carpet, ....
I was lucky & I had large room, more than 40m2. The staff is trying to be friendly, but sometimes fails.
Location is very good, that is important for big city.
If you choose it be ready to oldish surroundings, the other things quite good, but not excellent.
Breakfast could be better, but not bad.
I would recommend that hotel to friends

“4 Stars? For mold? Bugs? And bed stains?”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

Admittedly, it was our tour group who claimed that the hotel was 4 stars, but regardless, consider this:

First stay - with a tour group - we were on the 8th floor of a "standard" room. The paint was lime green, had mysterious stains, and smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. Same goes for our linens -- I flipped up the comforter and almost vomited. I got into the bathroom and the tile was severely cracked in several places, and all grout/crack lines were covered in black mold. This includes the ceiling tiles, where mold fuzzily clustered in angry colonies.

Against my better judgment, a group of friends booked us a "superior" room 3 days later. (Long story short, it was NYE, and we were desperate.) The superior room had not-lime-green paint, 10% fewer stains on the walls, and the sheets appeared clean and white. Same bathroom, however, mold army and all. We all woke up with mysterious bites clustered around our ankles.

Later, we found out that the only other difference between the standard and superior room, (besides 800 baht), is an in-room safe. When we complained about a broken temperature control panel and filthy sheets, they failed to respond until our THIRD phone call.

Stay tuned for pictures. They're pretty amazing.

Room Tip: If you must stay here, try to stay in the superior rooms.
