Stayed here for five nights with my family (wife and two young boys) in December 2010. Arrived tired to find the electronic key to our room did not work. After a wait we were given free drink coupons at the lounge bar until they sorted out the problem. Still no solution, so the manager told us she would upgrade us to a bigger room with a better view in exchange for the inconvenience. It was worth the wait. They even made a bed for the kids in the other living area of the suite which had its own TV etc.
Boys loved the pool and I used the gym on a few occassions. We used the hotel's tourism desk to book a day at the safari Park etc. Breakfast was not bad, usual buffet in Asia with some Indian stuff as well as bangkok has a lot of Indian visitors these days. You can get cheaper deals online though. Very good location near the mono rail station, 7/11, massage palours, street side food, a pizza place and the hotel's own open air place with music at night. All was good but for that dreaded Bangkok traffic. Use the mono rail as your transport.
