“Repeat Customer”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

Have been visiting friends in Bangkok for the last 5 years and always choose the Grand President. The rooms are big and sensibly priced and the location is central to all the best places to eat and drink. Staff are always polite and helpful and the restaurant food is great.

I will continue to stay at the Grand President as my Hotel of choice in Bangkok

Room Tip: Junior Suites are great value

“My regular home away from home in BKK”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

I have been using the Grand President as my overnight choice in BKK for the last two years.
I use it for overnights when I have flights the following day, or when arriving late at night. I also have used it with my partner when we want to stay in BKK for shopping, movies etc, as we live 250k away.
We always book a premier suite, as it has a combination of space, a kitchen, and a separate lounge and dining room, all for around 110 USD per night.
PROS: Great location, 5 minutes walk from Nana Station, good restaurants and bars. A short hop on motorbike taxi to Siam Paragon.
Easy to access if driving, as you can exit the Sukhamvit Down ramp from the elevated freeway and its also easy to drive back onto the freeway when departing BKK.
The Staff: you would be hard pressed to meet a nicer, more sincerely kind staff. They really do look after their regulars (and I would average 3 nights a month) and make you feel welcome. Its that kind of place. A little run down and threadbare around the edges, but happy and welcoming, rather than stark and modern and insincere.
CONS: Ok its getting a little run down and threadbare in some rooms. There is an ongoing refurbishment, but some of the bathrooms really need an overhaul, with drains that don't drain etc.
There is also the noise from the Avery (parrot cage) of the hotel next door to Tower 2 on the right of the hotel facing the driveway. Try to get a room away from here if you like a sleep in, unless you really like the sound of screeching parrots at sunrise in the morning.

When all is said and done it offers great value for money, and unsurpassed staff. It feels like home: not perfect, but perfectly comfortable.

Room Tip: Go for a suite in tower 2, but not on the left side facing Soi 11 unless you like the parrots!

Dear James F,
Thanks for your candid and accurate review of Grand President.

Firstly, thanks for complimenting out frontline staff. They are the main reason why Grand President is still competitive after all the years it’s been in existence.
Considering the staff handle close to 450 rooms and occupancies are usually very high, they remain friendly despite a lot of pressure at the Front Desk.

I agree some of our rooms are in need of refurbishment and we have big plans for this in 2012.
Sorry about the drainage. This should be taken care of by our Preventative Maintenance schedule.

For many years we’ve tried to get the Ambassador Hotel next door to get rid of the birds but sadly haven’t succeeded. Even complaints to the municipal authorities and the like didn’t work.

Our Deluxe Suites are good value indeed and we now have a ‘room only’ promotion on our website. This is ideal for Guests who don’t wake up in time for breakfast or prefer to skip it.

Thanks again for the review and we look forward to your return.

Sincerely,
M.N.Apaya

“8 Years USA loyal Repeat Customers observations”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

Having a long term relationship at that property,; having just returned from The Grand President spend the first 2 days and last 3 days of my 30 day vacation.

Knowing the bellboy staff from my first visit to Thailand, I consider him my first "friend" I primarily like to base myself from that properties 5 star location, 300 meters to the sky train platform! The property has changed in excellent upgrades and fixtures, not to mention outstanding pools, gym and around the clock staff.

Housekeeping is efficient, the rooms and climate controls are comforting and the in room fridge with all needed dishes, the bathroom fixtures and controls were much improved since my first stays.

The current managementnt staff is doing a excellent job catering too it's patrons. They even provided us with a box breakfast as we had a 3 am departure back to Los Angeles -LAX.

The Neighborhood is prospering with the best markets, restaurants, pubs, hotels
,massage, hair salons, tailors ,pharmacys and nightclubs! Makes this soi dynamic, everyone should take advantage of there own website for best prices which include, breakft, free wi fi free upgrades etc at about 60us dollars.

Say hello to the bellboy staff (Siam) and they and the front desk will be up to all tourist who choose to stay at this fine 4 star Hotel.

“No fuss stay”

Stayed at Grand President Hotel for 5 nights in January 2012. We stayed in Tower 2, on 19th floor, which was a free upgrade. Room was huge, with a separate bedroom, lounge area and kitchen (although not sure who uses kitchens on holidays). Room also has a washing machine which is also handy.

I have no complaints about this hotel at all, it was a completely fuss free, no dramas stay. Pool area is great and the gym facilities are excellent. Hotel also has a steam room and a sauna.

Location is fantastic right off Sukhumivit, on Soi 11. This area has heaps of hotels, restaurants, bars etc and is right near the sky train station. The thing I like most though, was the fact the room had opening windows, which you dont see often in highrise hotels.

I would not hesitate to stay here again.

“Sensibly Priced Hotel in Bangkok”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

Stayed in this hotel for one night on a quick visit to Bangkok. Hotel is centrally located and is convenient for restaurants and bars located nearby. Rooms are fairly spacious and the facilities are ample for business or pleasure. The hotel is in two towers. Tower A is where we stayed and we were informed that Tower B was not so nice but can not comment. One nice feature was the rooms had a microwave in which i had not seen before. Handy i suppose.

Room Tip: Can be noisy at the front of the hotel which looks over tow bars any Aussie Bar and a German Bar but...

Dear AJPKK,
Thanks for the positive review.
Grand President has three buildings with a variety of rooms and suites on offer.
Tower 2 is an all-suite building and is also nice as we constantly upgrade the rooms as needed.
The advantage of these suites is that they have a full-fledged kitchenette with a washer-dryer.

We look forward to your return to Grand President.
