Great trip - have used several hotels in Bangkok in the past and this one did not fail me. Excellent staff and well kept clean rooms - executive lounge well presented. Our return airport trip was organised by a most helpful bell boy at a meter cost of 325 baht - this is the normal costing for a trip to the airport (around £6 in English money for a 30 minute trip) due to Bangkok traffic. Enjoyable and will definitely return.

Stay 4 night at this hotel in Jan. 2012. Check in was easy enough but things went downhill from there. Carpet in the room was just filthy, not typical of Westin standard. Breakfast and executive lounge were the high points of the stay. Beware of the concierge and bellboys services. One taxi the hotel arranged for us wanted 2000 bah, 4 times the meter price for a short trip. When we refused to pay, taxi driver told us,the hotel told him to charged that amount. When we confronted the hotel conciergeover the phone, that person told us there was "misunderstanding".

We came back to the hotel and asked to speak with the manager in charge. That concierge we talked to earlier immediately intercept the manager to "explain" the situation to the manager even though he had no idea what we wanted to talk to the manager about. When we told the manager what had happened, he told us he knew what had happened already by his employee. It was the fault of the taxi driver. He believed his employee because he had worked there a long time. The fact that his employee intercepted him to tell him something that had happened six hours earlier immediately before we had a chance to talk to him did not bother him at all. He totally blew us off as if we were the trouble maker. Either he is blind or he is in on the take as well.

You would think the hotel would think twice about doing this again after the initial complaint. Well, not really. As we were leaving to go to the airport, the bellman called for a taxi. We were very specific about using taxi meter instead of a negotiated price. We were reassured by the bellman that would be case. Again, the taxi driver wanted 350 bah even though the same trip only costed 169 bah when we came in from the airport. The airport taxi ran on meter.

The moral of the story. Stay away from this hotel unless you like to be robbed. It needs to clean house.

The location of Westin Sukhumvit is excellent, just a few steps from the Asoke BTS station. Good amount of eateries nearby & the Robinson's supermarket in the extended complex. The room was big & nice, the decor aesthetic. Breakfast which was included in the cost was good & offered a good variety

My husband and I checked into the Westin after our first night in Bangkok was spent in a dismal hotel in the same area. How relieved we were to find a vacancy at a known quantity like the Westin! Our room was available for early check-in and was quiet and clean.

The buffet breakfast was excellent and included a variety of Asian and Western dishes. The staff were friendly and helpful and we enjoyed returning to the calmness of the hotel after a day of sightseeing.

Think that staying at a major hotel chain is the way to go in this city.
