As this was our honeymoon and just a stop off in bangkok before phuket, the imperial tara was ok, nothing special. The room they gave us was a bit of a let down, it was a room on the side of the hotel and didnt have a balcony which ment we could not open our window, The breakfast was ok, large choice but a bit on the expensive side. The staff were friendly enough but the language barrier was a bit of a pain. the location wasnt the best as travelling from the centre to our hotel was a nightmare, it took us 2hours to get back to the hotel one evening but that obviously not the hotels fault.
But travellers be aware!!!! when we went to see the palace the thai people all stand outside the palace telling foreigners that the palace is closed to to go on the tuk tuk to visit other sight seeing places but in fact once ur on the tuk tuk, they make you go shopping, the tuk tuk drivers get fuel stamps for everyshop we went into, i was going crazy toward the end as it wasted our time because we wanted to see the sights not taylor, gold shops, the palace is always open so dont be fooled into thinking otherwise.
the rooms were very basic a bit old fashioned, if we stayed in bangkok again we would not stay in the imperial tara again.
