“3* Hotel - At LEAST a 4*!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 December 2010

person found this review helpful

This hotel is a little out of Bangkok centre, however is literally 2 minutes from the Skytrain, which works out about £2 for full days travel, so is perfect.
The holiday company decribes it as a 3* - It is at least a 4*, very clean, very tidy, very upmarket, with a FANTASTIC restaurant. The 8th floor swimming pool also provides lovely swimming with great views of the city skyline, especially at night !
Definately reccommended hotel. Only very minor downpoint is the staff are a little arrogant, but for the quality you get for the price, i can live with that!

“Warm, welcoming staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 December 2010

What a wonderful hotel, the staff were lovely, very helpful with excellent suggestions for places to eat and how to get around Bangkok. Bo Lan restaurant is round the corner adn I would highly recommend it for a tasty, authentic Thai meal.

“was ok nothing special”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2010

As this was our honeymoon and just a stop off in bangkok before phuket, the imperial tara was ok, nothing special. The room they gave us was a bit of a let down, it was a room on the side of the hotel and didnt have a balcony which ment we could not open our window, The breakfast was ok, large choice but a bit on the expensive side. The staff were friendly enough but the language barrier was a bit of a pain. the location wasnt the best as travelling from the centre to our hotel was a nightmare, it took us 2hours to get back to the hotel one evening but that obviously not the hotels fault.
But travellers be aware!!!! when we went to see the palace the thai people all stand outside the palace telling foreigners that the palace is closed to to go on the tuk tuk to visit other sight seeing places but in fact once ur on the tuk tuk, they make you go shopping, the tuk tuk drivers get fuel stamps for everyshop we went into, i was going crazy toward the end as it wasted our time because we wanted to see the sights not taylor, gold shops, the palace is always open so dont be fooled into thinking otherwise.
the rooms were very basic a bit old fashioned, if we stayed in bangkok again we would not stay in the imperial tara again.

“Great value family hotel in quieter location close to skytrain”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 October 2010

Great value for money, and everything I expected. Clean and tidy room; very nice pool area; well-appointed breakfast; and friendly staff. I like the soi 26 location because it's close to the Phrom Phong BTS skytrain station, and quieter than the more "in your face" locations further down Sukhumvit Road (Nana and Asoke). We had a young child with us, so location and easy access was important. And she liked the pool. I was also impressed with the manageress, who made sure she greeted us on our way out and asked our opinion of the hotel. This showed she really cared. The hotel is a little tired looking, and is showing it's age. But this didn't detract at all from our experience because everything was clean and tidy, well appointed, and efficient. I recommend this hotel and will stay again.
