“Mr. "Oats" was a wonderful guide”
I was in Bangkok for a couple days with two children, and wanted to get the most out of sightseeing in this amazing city. I sent a message Friday night asking for a custom private tour to several tour companies, and all were booked or didn't answer, but Absolute Bangkok answered right away, offering an itinerary suiting our needs (starting later in the day than the other tours, for example) and proposing a price. The cost was not cheap, but completely within the norms of all the other private tour guide companies. The guide showed up on time, bearing gifts from the local market (sweet mangoes we ate later that evening) and was full of information and helpful tips about everything. Mr Oats has years of experience as a guide and was a history teacher before that -- what more can one want from a tour guide? A sweet and friendly man, he expertly guided me and my two kids through the main sights of the city, finishing our tour with a wonderful and refreshing canal trip of nearly an hour. My kids loved feeding the fish and seeing the city from this unique perspective, away from the hot and crowded streets. In short, we were delighted with the tour and especially with Mr Oats. The company was also very responsive and flexible regarding our needs, even waiving the deposit when I explained that we were already at the hotel and I couldn't transfer money that day. Also, I can't stress enough how important it was to have a cool van waiting for us at the exit of each activity, something that made the tour much easier on my kids, who were otherwise wilting quite quickly under the intense heat. Finally, let me end by saying that the temples of Bangkok are breath-taking and definitely worth a visit, no matter how short your stay in the city. The Royal Palace and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, on one site, are an absolute must! The Temple of the Reclining Buddha also very beautiful and important!
