“Lovely hotel”

Stayed in a superb 2 beded suite which was excellent value for money.

The hotel is situated on the riverside with a free ferry shuttle to the sky train terminal. Although taxis were also ready available from outside the hotel. The staff from the minute we arrived to the time of departure were most attentive. We booked trips, spa treatments and taxis through them and all were 10/10.

Room Tip: We had a room which overlooked the city on one side and river on the other.

“Chatrium the Champion of Babngkok Hotels”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

Family friendly, excellent staff, great value, fantastic breakfast's the best swimming pool in Bangkok and tremendous views. In my opinion this is THE place to stay in BKK. As a family we pass through Bangkok a couple of times a year and the Suites are very comfortable, great for relaxing in. The Pool is wonderful, much bigger than most BKK hotels and has sun all day which most others don’t. The business suite is good and Kim is great (Sawadee Kim), very helpful and the Chinese restaurant has great BKK views. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else. See you in April Chatrium.

Room Tip: Get a suite if you have a family well worth it.

Stayed at the start of January at the start of a two month tour of south Asia.
The rooms are good a size with everything you need and a nice comfortable bed book a river view well worth it.
The hotel shuttle boat drops you right at a skyrail link .
Staff are superb know exactly when to offer help
Pool area lovely , wifi no problems.
Food in restaurant was as good as anything tried in Bangkok and we went to a lot of good restaurants
Excellent value for money as good as anything we've experienced yet

“Excellent location and building, moderate staff and cleanliness”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012 via mobile

I stayed for 2 nights during my honeymoon. The location of the hotel is excellent and there is a free ferry which travels frequently from the hotel to the closest sky train station (saphan tak sin). The building is nice and the rooms are large and have a lot of amenities including microwave and stove! Our room was not very clean, there were large and very visible stains on the bed sheets, soap scum in the shower and smudged windows. The staff were adequately polite but in general, did not offer the famous Thai homeliness and hospitality. They really seemed quite unhappy ( generalization I know). I do however think that for the price paid, it was a very good hotel.
Taxi from the airport should cost ~300THB

“If you like muzak, you'll love this place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

My wife and I stayed here for 5 nights in a river view room. The room was very spacious with a small kitchen area with a microwave, fridge and kettle, plus a few bits of cutlery and crockery. Certainly enough equipment for a light snack but not much more. There is a small Seven Eleven supermarket very nearby where it’s possible to buy some light food and drinks etc, so the facility is useful.

The bathroom was pretty good with marble tiles and a freestanding shower as well as a bath and was kept clean during our stay except that towels were not changed very regularly. The room overall lacked a "wow" factor though. There was nothing wrong with it but it just needed something to lift it above the average.

The rest of the hotel was excellent in terms of layout and decor. It has a small gym that had fairly new equipment and a lap pool overlooking the river. There are far too few loungers by the pool and service is pretty well non-existent unless you go to the bar and ask for something. The staff were excellent, very friendly and willing.

Breakfast is good although options are quite limited. We had dinner there once and the food was reasonably good but the drinks super-expensive. What really spoiled the hotel for me was the constant muzak everywhere in the hotel. It plays by the pool and in the restaurant. The problem is that it was quite loud and intrusive, I found it difficult to read while beside the pool because of the noise. During breakfast they played the same CD over and over, every day. If you like to take a while over breakfast as we do, you'll hear the same songs repeated about 10 times during the week.

The worst example of the music intrusion is in the outdoor area of the restaurant. The one time that we sat there, the weather was very warm and tables overlook the river but there was a 3-piece band playing that was so loud we couldn't hold a conversation. They play every day except one, I think. The upside is that it's very easy to get a table outside since very few guests eat there!

The other big downside for us is the conference/function facility. It has an outside dining area, just above the pool deck. It too overlooks the river so if you have a river view, you could also get some noise disturbance from the parties down below since they go on well into the night.

The staff, as I said, were excellent and one stand out memory remains. It was my wife's birthday while we were there and she had some birthday cards displayed on the dressing table that day. The cleaning staff noticed that and, late in the evening, we found a beautiful birthday cake in the room - a really nice touch we felt.

Overall, there are certainly some drawbacks at this hotel but it does offer fantastic value for money and, on balance, if we had the opportunity to stay there again, we probably would.

Room Tip: Like everyone else we suggest asking for a river view room on as high a floor as possible.
