For our last night in Bangkok, we didn't want to go all the way into the city from the airport which can sometimes take a long time but nor did we wish to end the holiday prematurely by spending the night in an airport hotel away from all the action. We felt that Park 9 would be a half way house, particularly because it was situated near to two large shopping malls. The positives are that the staff are all very nice, the apartments are large and spotlessly clean and the property gives good value for money. The shopping centres were nice but don't go expecting the likes of MBK.
The downside though is that it is simply too remote. The taxi drivers at the airport had to ring the hotel for directions. We did not see any other guests the whole time we were there and we were the only people in the restaurant. The apartments would probably suit someone staying for several days on business. There is no holiday ambiance there. The apartments are functional but stark. I felt quit depressed staying there and considered heading back to the airport after only a few hours! Our restaurant experience was poor. We ate dinner very quickly and left. Once again, there was no ambiance, music or any reason to take our time. We felt that we had chosen badly on our last night. As I say, great for executive city living or for families who need the extra room to to spread out, but not suitable for holiday makers.
