“Hotel Sivalai place”

Good hotel/apartment. Personnel need to speak better English. Located very far from the center (downtown) of Bangkok. Some sites like hotelcombend.com speak about location 2.1 km from centre. But this is not true. You need to take taxi or other to reach downtown.

This hotel was supposed to pick us up for 900 Baht at the airport. We were exhausted from the long long trip, the taxi did not show up for approximately 3 hours. We called the number we got from the hotel, they said wait for 5 minutes. We waited and had to call at least 3 times. When we said something about this, the lady named Oilie said that we can take another hotel when we are not happy with this. We did not like what she said. That's not friendly.

For vegetarians we don't recommend this hotel, they do not have pure (HINDU) vegetarian food. Coming late from trips in Bangkok, you cannot go out for diner, for there are also no vegetarian restaurant in the area.

“Awesome Place”

This Place is really great. It's not that far from the city, but it's really really quiet and I felt very safe at this place.
But the best are the rooms and the service.
Just when you arrive, you feel like at home.
The rooms are huge and clean. They look better than on the pictures in the internet.
I can really recommend this place. It's clean , nice , friendly and cheap.

“Best in Bankok :)”

Wow... this place is amazing... especially for the price!! As backpackers, we booked this place off hostelworld and were not expecting much seeing as we only payed aroun £8 a night or something like that! We initially booked to stay at Sivalai Place for 4 days, before moving on to Chiang Mai and the Thai islands. We actually ended up returning to Sivalai after our stay in Chiang Mai for a few extra days because of how nice it was!

Accommodation: More like a 4 star not a hostel!! Bedrooms are amazing, double beds, very comfy, spacious, air con (no extra cost either if i remember correctly), mini bar, and kitchen. The pool is huge, with plenty of sunbeds too. There is a tennis court, a gym, and a sauna! Internet also available!

Food: Food served at the hotel is amazing!! Try the chicken and cashews!! also very very good value for money,I think we worked it out to be about £2 for cooked evening meal and drink!! Also, you must try the fresh smoothies from the small shop on site too.... refreshing on the sweltering days!

Staff: Could not be more helpful. They organised our whole trip to Chiang Mai, and the islands, with no cost! They even allowed us to leave our main luggage at the hotel (in storage) whilst we travelled to Chiang Mai, so we could travel light! Ollie, the young girl, took us out a couple of times into Bangkok to show us the sights.... she is a lovely person. Also, book taxis through the hotel and you won't get ripped off.

Chiang Mai: We got the overnight train to Chiang Mai, and the overnight bus back to Bangkok... I think the train was about 11 hours and the bus was 13, or something like that.... very long anyway! I would choose the bus everytime as the train was awful, didn't get a wink of sleep and food was discusting! Travel 1st class on the bus (it's still ever so cheap!) and you get reclining chairs, TV, and regular stops to food places and loos!

Please note: I actually stayed here a few years ago now, but it wouldn't let me select a time as far back as this!

“Wonderful Place and People”

Let me start with the downside. Hard to find! Even for the taxi drivers.
That being said, Sivalai Place is a gem. The room was spacious and clean, The staff is a joy to work with, and they will be happy to help you with anything you need, from the owner on down. Bam was fantastic! Don't expect them to do your room without you telling them. They respect your privacy and your space. They will not enter your room unless you give them permission.
I would recommend Sivalai Place to anyone going to Bangkok.

Room Tip: Get their phone number and business cards with the map on it. You will need them both for the taxi.

“Perfect For a Quiet Bangkok Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

If you are wanting to get away from the crowds, loud party areas, and pushy sellers of all sorts then this is the place for you. It's situated in a nice, quiet local neighborhood. I felt more like a local than a tourist (or walking money sign) in the area, the people were so friendly and laid back. We had an amazing view of the city from our room and the rooms were clean, spacious and new. It felt like an upscale luxury apartment, we even had a kitchen in our studio! Simply amazing. Staff were helpful, friendly and even planned events for guests. The gym was a huge bonus, I was surprised to find the equipment in such great shape (no pun intended).

This was perfect for us, but it will not be for everyone. If you are looking for the crazy party scene, and nearby nightlife, this is not the place for you. Also, if you want to be "where the action is," again this is a little off the beaten path. We found it easy to get around and it can be dirt cheap - if you're willing to walk a little, take local buses, or use the free Bangkok Smiles bikes- bring a passport or driver's license to rent and be aware you can only use the bikes in the neighborhood you borrow it from, but there are rental areas in each of the major neighborhoods. Depending on traffic and time of day tuk tuks to Khosan are only 50-100 baht ($2-3), so even if you don't want to be bothered with other forms of transport, this is a cheap option as well.
