“Lousy Hotel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

Expensive. Not worth the money. More like a LOVE MOTEL than a hotel. Location is not so great. Still need to walk at least 20mins walk to the da'an train station. 1 hour walk to Taipei 101.
Bed is bad. Room is small. Shower is without shower curtain.

“Run down rooms that still uses metal keys”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

I stayed at this hotel over Christmas for a very long nine nights. Overall the good is the hotel's location next to the park and not a long walk from MRT and American food options like Starbucks,Burger King,Dunkin Donuts and Subway. The bad is a long list and I will go into the blow by blow in this review.
Check-in: This was okay except that they still uses actual keys attached to a card which you will use to keep the lights on in your room. Sometimes they ask you for your keys back when you go out of the hotel and will give you them when you come back.

Room: You know that these rooms have seen better times. The hinges of closets makes noise when you open them. No safe provided in the room. The bed is missing its bounce and the linens sometimes have iron burn marks on them. The washroom mirror was ornated with metal roses which has rusted and is just unsanitary. The ledge protrudes over the sink so you would hit your head on it if you lean in there to wash your face. No cover for the shower so it is one of those deals when there is a drain in the middle of the floor. This drain make a noise is some other room is using their shower. The smell of smoke fills the room even after the cleaning and I am on the sixth floor.

Breakfast: Cold, cold! Cold! Cold Eggs, sausages and soggy bacon that is cold. The salad looks soggy also. The bread looks to be old and the jam looks alright, but taste old. I only ate there on the first day. I walked down to the Dunkin Donuts and the nearby McDonalds and Starbucks for western food or got sandwiches from the street vendors for 20 or 30 TWD.

Housekeeping: attention to details like having a not burnt bed sheet was overlooked. Late cleaning from 3-4 pm means you cannot go back for an afternoon break before dinner at that time.

Afterthought is why do they not renovate the hotel? They have high end condos on the same street and the Dandy hotel down the street charges at the $100 USD range whereas they can really only charge $60-$70 USD. They probably have a better view than Dandy.

“good location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 October 2010

liked:
good budget/business hotel. about 8mn walk from metro station. very close to Da'an park and AIT (american institute in taiwan). breakfast was ok, simple & basic choices both chinese and wester style. the lady in the kitchen seemed very friendly and attentive. room was comfortable, huge bathroom, good amenities.
disliked:
great location, but construction for metro going on right outside the window so very noisy during the day. didn't feel like there was much service except for the kitchen lady. room and bathroom were clean overall, but there was water stain in the bathroom. there was also some stain on the sheet, didn't bother me too much though. not too many restaurants within walking distance.
it's a good value to spend a night or two if you just need a place to sleep or crash for the night.
