Reason for choosing this hotel - its within walking distance to the Shilin Night Market

Its generally an average hotel with nothing much else to shout about besides it proximity to SNM. The buffet breakfast is included in the price of the hotel and is quite good in terms of spread and taste

The rooms are of decent size and is clean
The hotel has a small reception area where the staff checks u in and out, but there is really no lobby to speak of where u can relax .

But i remember there is wifi in the rooms, so that is a plus for me.

Choose this hotel if u want to be very near to SNM. Other wise, i am sure there are better hotels in Taipei of near equivalent price

Location: ten minutes walk from 剑潭 (jian tan) station.
Nearby: the famous Shilin (士林）night market. Two 24hours convenient stores right outside, two cafes, a dumpling (锅贴）franchise outlet etc.
Good: about five minutes from the famous shilin night market. Clean room. Daily necessities provided. Breakfast was a good spread of western and asian.
Bad: tired room and simply noisy. Stayed at 3rd floor and was disturbed throughout the night by passing vechicles even up to 4 am in the middle of the night. Noise insulation is non existent! I can hear my neighbor's conversation loud and clear. Noise from the corridor is also a constant irritation throughout the night. Be warned, the thermo set has a heater option BUT the hotel does not have a heater system so its cold air instead. No hotel safe.

The only unpleasent stay I have in Taiwan. The room looks tired and uncomfortable. Double bed was two single joint instead so you can feel the dividing line in the middle. Apart from its proximity from shilin night market I dont have many other pleasant things to say about it. Its probably because of the poor noise insulation of the hotel room that kept me up in the middle of the night for the days I stayed. The lack of proper sleep ruined the rest of my days in Taipei. It was also pretty cold when I was there, so I tried to warm the room using the heater option on the electric thermoset only to get a nasty surprise later. The hotel has no heater option so cold air was instead blown into the room cooling it further to 16 although the desired temp was set at 24. I only found out about this when I went down to the lobby and check with the staff. The solution provided by them was "off the air con and wait for the room to be warm up by itself". You can imagine the displeasure experiencing this issue and getting such a lousy answer at 3am. The rates was not good for such a room. Although the breakfast was a good spread, it cannot make up for the poor accomodation it provides.

first of all, make sure you check the hotel's own websit. we got a much better rate from the hotel. if i am not mistaken, the difference was about canadian $20 a night. the room is nice and clean. comfy bebs. very good breakfast, it has something different each day and delicious. the shilin night market is only 5-7 minutes away. the subway is about 10 minutes away. all in all, very good value for the money. highly recommended.

First of all, price quoted by Expedia for Starbeauty was reasonable. Location is not central but within walking distance to MRT Shilin station. Staff are friendly and do their job fine. The best I liked was clean and comfortable bedding. Room size (business room 701) was good enough for 2 persons. Only 2 pillows on King sized bed but alright for my need. Internet connection in room included. Breakfast was included and they served a variety of hot and cold food. I also used its coin operated laundry facility. I found an open bag of detergent near the washing machine and used it with ease.
