Not a cheap hotel, only 7 rooms and way out on the mountain. Great!!! The rooms are big, beds big and comfortable and the facilities are very good indeed. As well as a toilet, washbasin and shower you also get a steam room and then outside on your balcony a big Jacuzi. By big I mean plenty of space for a six footer and wife to relax looking into the secluded jungle clad gorge. The room (and hotel) are mostly made of high class local wood which makes it an aromatherapy experience for the whole time
The boss is a chef and concentrates on that bit, which is great because he is well up to Michelin standards and his 7 course set dinner should not be missed. Neither should his breakfast, which kept me well filled for most of the day!
To eat you have to walk down steps in the gorge to the wooden restaurant which is fine by me, but have an umbrella for if it rains and it does rain on Yangmingshan! The restaurant is adjacent to an clear unpolluted creek and a big bonus was that I was allowed to fish it. 3 catches before dinner and 2 while breakfast was being prepared. Catch and return so a real eco-friendly paradise.
As a sideline the boss makes superb chocolate ranging from 67% to 99% cacao and a few flavours too, fro sale by the box or the gram. Hard to resist.
