“Fullerton South – Executive Room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

I stayed here 24-26/12 on 9th floor & 27-29/12 on 12th floor. The hotel location is very good. Not too busy, the Da Ann MRT station is just 200m away. About 15mins walk to YongKang Street. There many restaurant nearby. The porridge restaurant nearby is very good.
The rooms were clean and decent size. There is a very cozy & nicely decorated “living room” type of common area next reception counter. I love this area where you can sit down and have a cup of coffee or tea and cookie for free. My friends and I used to sit here to wait for our car in the morning and chi-chat at night. The breakfast was good, limited choice but good quality. The restaurant is very big, hence won’t be too crowded.
The staffs here are friendly and can speak good English.
One negative comment from me is I didn’t get the chance to try the sauna area. Because there is certain time limit for to cater for different gender. If I remember correctly, 4-7 is for female, 8-11 is for male. I was a tourist, usually be back to the hotel after dinner, around 9pm. Hence I never had the chance to use the facility. I would like to suggest them to allocate some time slot open for reservation used. So the female guests who go back to the hotel late also have a chance to use it.

“The Good and the Not So Good”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

I have been staying in Fullerton hotel – Funan for a few years when I go to Taiwan on business. It’s a mid size hotel and good for business travelers. It is ok for leisure if you don’t need fancy amenities like pools, restaurants, spa services or big lobby.

The goods:
1. This is a non-smoking hotel. You will only smell smoking in front of downstairs rear exit door (close to elevator). Most guests and staff congregate and smoke there.
2. Most of the business friendly amenities such as Free Internet, Free Wi-Fi, small lobby area for a quick meet, Free Coffee,…
3. Friendly staff and willing to help (as long as it is within their authority).
4. Breakfast is ok for the price (free). No hassle, just sign in yourself. Not a lot of selections but fresh and good food. They will cook eggs and omelets for you, just ask.
5. Free water bottles, good TV, good bedding, and even music player.
6. Sometimes you will see small tourists group but not many. Unlike some big hotels that you have to compete with tourists just to get in and out.

The not so goods:
1. The hotel is right by the light rail system and heavy traffic street. All the windows are old and does not insulate sound very well. You can hear honking even on the 12th floor. Not very loud, but if you are a light sleeper like me, you can hear it. The door does not insulate well either and it is a small hallway so if your neighbor is loud, you are in trouble.
2. No late checkout policy, they want to charge you $300/hr for late checkout. Unlike most of the business hotels that will accommodate late checkout up to 4pm.
3. Don’t stay in the room on 12th floor right below the gym. Not a good idea….

Conclusion: If you set your expectation right, at the price level, it is a very good business hotel.

Room Tip: HIgher floor, away from the street

“Good hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

We booked the Fullerton South for our 9 day stay in Taipei City. I expressly asked a room on the back side of the hotel as you have the view on the Taipei 101 (I loved that!). We stayed in a junior suite on the 9th floor: it was a suitable size room, as well as the bathroom with tub and shower. Good (firm) bed and all amenities always provided. A quiet, comfortable, decently clean room.
Breakfast was ok, mainly oriental food and some efforts to western food; I would have liked more choice of fruit. In the lobby there is a cozy lounge, with complimentary tea, coffee and cookies available for the guests. PC's with internet are freely available at any time. The staff is very kind, always helpful and extremely polite. All in all we had a positive experience in this hotel.

“Good hotel with excellent staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

I stayed here for 3 nights during a business trip to Taiwan and would recommend this hotel as an average - good place to stay.

The staff (Reception, Conciege, housekeeping) are very friendly, polite and helpful.

The breakfast at the hotel is adequate and there is choice. They cater for both western and eastern tastes.

The rooms were average, but there were some bad points - it smelt of cigarettes, you couldn't adjust the air conditioning, there were 2 single beds pushed together instead of one Double/King & there could have been more tea/coffee provided.

There is a gym, BUT it's terrible. There are 2 treadmills (Only one was working!), a Cross Trainer & a bike (This didn't work either!). Many hotels have bad gyms though, so I never expect much.

“Good Business Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

Checkin was quick and orderly. We were immediately helped to our room by the porter who was accomodating and prompt.
I had 3 meetings with people I have not met therefore I dont know how to recognize them. Fullerton has a nice and quiet lobby with free coffee and biscuits. It is a good place to let my visitors wait, relax, have coffee while waiting for us to come down from our rooms.
The reception is efficient and lets us know quickly of visitors and guests waiting for us.
The breakfast buffet has many choices, both western and Oriental. The room we booked, Fullerton Twin, is of sufficient size with complete amenities.
The Baan metrostation is nearby and on the way there are nice and affordable restaurants.
Nice overall experience worth recommending to friends..
