“For Sure Not a Four Star Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

I used Travelocity to book the hotel and the rating was Five Star with quite number of good reviews. Since I only stay at Taipei for one night, I tried. My feeling of the hotel actually is outdated facilities and should be rated between two to three stars.

Room Tip: There are better choice than this hotel in Taipei for the room rate I paid for this hotel room. Tra...

“There are better choices”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 December 2011

Room was good but hotel is really far from the stations; at least 20min walk from MRT. Breakfast was definitely not a 4-star hotel standard at all. Rooms were without windows. Hotel staff was not able to help on luggage transportation services available in Taiwan although we were communicating in Mandrain.

“Lots of comfort”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

We booked this hotel as part of a tour package, along with a flight from Hong Kong, and stayed for 2 nights.
Check-in was quick and efficient, despite the low level of English of the receptionist. Our room on the 5th floor was reasonably spacious, with all the regular amenities: air con, water kettle and some tea bags, cups and glasses, safe, and flat screen TV. The window opened to a narrow alley and the main street, but it was sound proof and no noise from the street could be heard in the room. Everything was clean, the bed comfortable. The bathroom was quite large, with a Japanese toilet/washlet, shower stall and rainbow light jacuzzi. Everything was not brand new but in very good condition and working. The wall separating bedroom and bathroom had a large window pane (with a curtain to pull down).
The hotel was about 10 minutes by foot from the MRT, which was a nice quick walk, and felt safe even at night. They also have a free shuttle bus to various points in the city, but you have to book it in advance (we weren't organized enough to do that).
There were several reasons for giving four instead of five stars. First of all, the free wifi was extremely spotty and sometimes did not work at all. We mentioned this to the front desk personnel, but this did not have any effect. Breakfast was included, but was extremely uninspiring, both in terms of selection and quality. It was edible and better than no breakfast at all, though.
Finally, when my sister (who was with us, but in a different room) was checking out, the staff asked her to pay for her room even if it had been pre-paid. It turned out that the paperwork that she had received from her travel agent did not entirely clearly state this, so they ran her credit card again, and were not really able to find out whether or not she had paid for the room already. I am not up to date about how the whole story turned out in the end, but the situation was extremely uncomfortable, and the staff displayed poor communication skills and completely lacked professionalism.
Overall a very nice hotel and a comfortable stay. Just hope that no questions about payment come up...

“Good Location and a Rainbow Jacuzzi”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 November 2011

This is a nice peaceful Taiwanese Hotel that is more personable than the international chains. Not a particularly large room but very comfortable with an excellent bathroom. Not quite sure of the point of the rainbow lights in the bath when you turn the jacuzzi on but it was certainly memorable. Less than ten minutes to the MRT station and even closer to one of the smaller night markets. The hotel will take you to the main station for the airport bus which only takes 30 minutes and costs under £3. Decent breakfast on the top floor.

Royal Seasons Hotel is located about 15 mins walking distance from Taipei Main Station or Zhongshan MTR Station. The room is clean with nice toiletries.
Staff is nice and friendly.
Overall quite a pleasant experience. Free internet + Wi-Fi is definitely a huge plus.
