Marquess opened a year ago and what initially attracted me to the hotel were the cleanliness of the rooms and the Victorian feel to the place with a touch of modernness. The rooms were all very spacious and included their own covered balcony. The bathrooms were immaculate with bathtub and showering facilities. The bed was a bit firm, but I had a great night's sleep with much distractions. The rooms had a charming feel to them and didn't feel like the usual dull hotel rooms I would usually find in Taiwan.
The hotel staff were really friendly and spoke basic English -- enough to help you out with the usual requests. There was free WiFi throughout the hotel and also a useful business center where you can use the computers and print out documents for free.
The only drawback was the location of the hotel. There's really nothing around here, except for car dealerships, industrial warehouses a large Carrefour supermarket (about 15mins walk away though). Nevertheless, you can get a cab to most of the tourist attractions for US $4-7. If you're coming from the HSR station, take the free bus to Chi Mei Hospital, hop off and get a cab there for about US $4.
Definitely value for money and will stay there again!
