“Superb”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

Stunning views,comfortable room.
Totally friendly and welcoming environment.
Staff,to a man,brilliant.
Wonderful opportunities for spotting birde and butterflies.

When things went "not according to plan"the Lodge really pulled together to help in any way they could.I believe this to be a mark of a well-run establishment.
The friendly(perhaps ,in my case,over-friendly)dog managed to cover my trousers in mud.
The trousers wres cleaned free of charge.
It later chewed my sunglasses.I was taken into town to select another pair, again free of charge.
These two events had their funny side.
However ,more seriously, my travelling companion had a fall and broke her arm.The staff ,led by Marcus himself, worked tirelessly and with complete dedication to get her safely to the best available hospital and back to the Lodge.
In the following couple of days the treatment she received from all at Tiger Mountain could not have been better.I seemed to spend all my time thanking people. It was so overwhelming.
Once more I'd like to thank everyone .It would be invidious to single out anyone in particular.
Please be assured that you will have a great time here.Don't hesitate to book.
Myself,I'd love to re-visit sometime, especially when the butterflies are in even greater abundance.

Dear Sagittarius 1C,

Yes, your visit did prove somewhat eventful - we try not to make glasses eating and broken arms regular or routine events! Boss the dog has been very contrite ever since and not so much as gone near glasses or guests when muddy! The way the entire team pulled together when "the balloon went up" was as it should be as we all want our guests to be compeltely cared-for in normal and exceptional circumstances.

Thank you from us all for your kind words of praise - and do come back in a better butterfly season.

Marcus, Ishwar, Jhalak, Dol Raj, Lalu, Gyan and all the team.

“Brilliant stay, highly recommended”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

Really loved our stay here - our room was lovely, very comfortable and with what would have been a beautiful view, we just arrived in the dark and then it was cloudy... But even the clouds were amazing - rolling right through the bar area at times. Great communal areas with a big open fire. Food was good too - plenty of it and all well prepared.

Dear Adlom,

Many thanks for your kind words - yes, as the morning winter fog rolls up and over the lodge, one does get a deeper understanding of the meaning of a passing cloud! All the team strive to ensure our guests enjoy their experience with us. Thank you for noting our food in terms of both quantity and quality!

I hope we see you again a the lodge or exploring other parts of Nepal with our Tiger Tops and Mountain Travel sister companies.

With best wishes for 2012,

“A truly memorable visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

This lodge has to have the most beautiful views ever, across to the Annapurna range. The accommodation was superb, and the service absolutely incredible. Well trained and attentive staff were definitely there to keep you happy. The food was good, the ambience very friendly. The rooms are spacious and well equipped, luxurious even. The only slight downside is the distance of some of the rooms from the main building where the dining room and bar are situated, also the main entrance. At night one needs to be sure-footed to navigate home with the minimal lighting and provided torch. However, the spacing of the bungalows gives privacy and undoubtedly one of the staff would accompany a guest if necessary. It was that kind of place. Truly memorable.

Room Tip: The furthest rooms are a five minute walk from the main building and restaurant and there are many s...

Dear Magnolia64,

Thank you for your review and compliments, particularly of the staff. Yes, the staff are very happy to escort guests to and from rooms and to provide a strong arm to lean on if neeed with our famous steps! We have just upgraded the torches / flashlights in the majority of rooms to provide brighter light between room and the main lodge. On my next visit to England I'll be buying more torches to upgrade the remaining rooms.

With very best wishes from us all,

Yours sincerely,

Marcus Ishwar Dol Raj Jhalak and all the team

“A Serene and Tranquil Paradise”

It was a joy and a privilege for me to to have had the opportunity to stay at this truly special place in the Autumn of 2011 whilst volunteering at the local primary school which is supported by the Lodge.

Very seldom in life does everything come together to create near perfection, but the people who work and live at Tiger Mountain, combined with the spectacular environment, have created an idyllic mountain paradise.

Each carefully planned lodge has a balcony from which to watch the dawn breaking over the Annapurna range - no photograph can ever do this justice. This view together with the genuine, warm hearts of the wonderful staff who look after their guest’s every whim make Tiger Mountain a truly magical place. The attention to detail is unparalled and they must surely be amongst the most highly trained hospitality staff any where in the world.

Whilst there I noticed that every member of a group of 6 guests requested a different sort of bread for their breakfast toast the following morning and so, being Tiger Mountain, individual loaves were baked for each of them by Lalu the cook.

Many different types of tea, coffee, home made cakes and biscuits are constantly available. Delicious and inventive canapes are served before dinner, and the wonderful soups on offer are made with ingredients from the organic garden. Lalu's chocolate pudding is a chocoholic's delight.

Room Tip: Do let the management know before your visit if you have mobility problems. Some lodges are a littl...

Dear UKSugarloaf,

Thank you for your great review. Spending some 4 weeks or more with us while volunteering at Amar Jyoti School through People & Places, you had a chance to see our sustained operations, not just for a 2-3 night stay.

All the team really strive for the best possible care for our guests and all their needs. Individual travellers, volunteers, group travellers, families - it matters not how guests come, all are individuals. Be it Dol Raj remembering guests' preferences, Sujan making special cocktails at the bar, Lalu making a special meal that is a child's favourite, Amar ensuring rooms are warm and comfortable or Krishna asking if a guest wants his trousers pressed flat or with creases, it is that level of detailed care that we wish to deliver.

Thank you again and we all wish you a very Happy 2012 and hope we see you again soon at Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge.

Marcus, Ishwar, Jhalak, Dol Raj, Lalu, Gyan and all the team.
