As is typical of Holiday Inn Express locations, this one is spotlessly clean and serves a good if limited breakfast at no extra charge. However, I recommend you stay elsewhere for two reasons.
First, the location. This hotel is on the opposite side of the interstate highway from most everything else. You can walk only to a chicken restaurant and a Dairy Queen. For anything else, including anything that would have brought you to Abilene, you must get in your car.
Second, the lack of sound-proofing between rooms. Two men were watching football in the room next to mine, and continued conversing well past midnight. I could hear literally every word of their conversation, and couldn't sleep. At 1:30 AM, I finally called the front desk about it, the attendant called the room to ask them to be quiet, and one of the men left -- but really, these men were simply talking, not partying; in any quality hotel, they could have continued their conversation without bothering anyone.
Other reviews have noted issues with this hotel but said it's the best you can do in Abilene. If that's the case, consider driving on to Salina for a night's stay. At room rates over $100 per night, this hotel is simply not worth the money charged.
Room Tip: Find a good b&b or drive to Salina.
