“Well kept traveling secret!”

I have traveled across Kansas many times and stayed at a few hotels along the way (Colby, WaKeeney). This one was the best. I always arrive late and the staff is still very kind and attentive. The rooms have been recently updated and are very comfy. The fitness center is small, but served my purpose for a one-nighter. The morning breakfast was adequate, but the lady serving it was fantastic!

Pleasant stay #3 at this hotel!

Room Tip: Parking is only in the front and sides, so if you like to be able to look out and see your car, ask...

“Great Staff”

The staff is awesome. My son had lost his wallet and the staff were eagerly awaiting our call to get it back to the rightful owner. Then when I had problem with Priority Club Rewards, they went out of there way to help.

Room Tip: We had one on the ground floor facing the front parking lot and it was great.

“Poor location, paper-thin walls”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2011

As is typical of Holiday Inn Express locations, this one is spotlessly clean and serves a good if limited breakfast at no extra charge. However, I recommend you stay elsewhere for two reasons.

First, the location. This hotel is on the opposite side of the interstate highway from most everything else. You can walk only to a chicken restaurant and a Dairy Queen. For anything else, including anything that would have brought you to Abilene, you must get in your car.

Second, the lack of sound-proofing between rooms. Two men were watching football in the room next to mine, and continued conversing well past midnight. I could hear literally every word of their conversation, and couldn't sleep. At 1:30 AM, I finally called the front desk about it, the attendant called the room to ask them to be quiet, and one of the men left -- but really, these men were simply talking, not partying; in any quality hotel, they could have continued their conversation without bothering anyone.

Other reviews have noted issues with this hotel but said it's the best you can do in Abilene. If that's the case, consider driving on to Salina for a night's stay. At room rates over $100 per night, this hotel is simply not worth the money charged.

Room Tip: Find a good b&b or drive to Salina.

“Best hotel available, but there's not a lot of choices”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

After staying at several Holiday Inn Express hotels that were really nice this one came in way under our expectations. What it does have is a great location, right off the interstate and located right next to the famous fried chicken dinner place, The Brookville Hotel (highly recommend). But it is lacking in everything else. The room we were placed in was a handicap room and I don't see how it qualified for that. We had barely enough room to walk at the end of the bed because the desk was there. I can't imagine how someone in a wheel chair would make it past that space. And you would need to in order to adjust the thermostat. Everything about the hotel is in need of renovation. The bathrooms, carpet, it all has seen better days. The front desk and other employees we encountered were friendly. So that was a plus. They also accept pets which was another reason we chose this place. Would we stay there again...not sure. I guess if we had to then yes, but we would probably drive another hour just to find something else.
