Stayed here a few times now and I must say the quality is consistent and of a high level. Excellent facilities and well- trained staff are matched by a comfortable pool area and good quality food. Rooms are clean and modern, with a pearl of a bathroom. For the lucky ones the Club Rotana offers breakfast and snacks of a very good level, paired with personal service. Big screen TV sets, Internet and fresh juices make up for the total lack of any alcohol. Only minor point is the chainsmoking all over, even in the rooms.....something you don't see anymore in the Western wordl.

I stayed here for about 10 days a while back- before Feb 2011. Back then it was nice and the rooms were very modern considering the location. I was there during Ramadan which added an extra special element to being there and the food was great!!. Actually, this was the first hotel I'd stayed in in a long time that had such a modern feel to the rooms. I'd return in a heart beat!


I'd stayed a few days at the other hotel in the city is supposed to be nice (no names) but found it seriously lacking and dated. I was very happy to check out and go to this one- felt like an upgrade!

The staff were very nice and I still keep in touch with one of them till now.

The room was comfortable, clean and well maintained. Customer service was good. Quality gym, nice pool.

Quite short distance to the airport: and therefore you can actually hear the planes landing/taking off all night, because the hotel is right under the flight path. This noise didn't bother me, but a light sleeper might need ear plugs.

Accommodation and all meals were very, very expensive. You have to pay extra for internet.

Be sure to have a load of cash with you at check-out, since international credit cards are not accepted in Sudan, due to US trade embargo.

Having suffered some third-rate places in Khartoum in past years it was a huge pleasure to check in to this hotel. Only a few kms form the airport and once you have navigated your way around the car park you are welcomed into a spacious, cool, calm oasis. Staff are well trained and manage to achieve that difficult balance between formality and friendliness. Food is delicious and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. The corridors even smell nice, I'm sure they are adding a nice perfume to the AC. I loved the walk-in shower that deluges you with hot water from a rose the size of a dinner plate and I overslept in the enormous bed with its nice duvet. It also has the best blackout blinds I have ever seen.

My only complaint would be the high price of the breakfasts and meals generally. However they upgraded me to a club room - don't know if this was because it was my first visit or because (as they said) all the other non-smoking rooms were occupied... dubious, I thought because the place didn't seem that busy. Anyway top marks, this is one of the best hotels in Africa.
