“It's Third World Nice”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

I have stayed here and at the Radison. The downside is the hotel is a lot older and there are some issues, I was there in rainy season and water literally game in from the balcony. Also, there is internet but it's super slow and just stops sometime. There is a cafe, about one block away with Wii Fi.

But, that aside, it's clean and nice. It's right in downtown Dakar so walkable to places to eat, and things to see and easy to get a cab. The pool is nice, looks right out on to the ocean and I liked the Sunday brunch buffet which is a little pricey but ok for Africa prices at a good hotel. I tried the gym across the St. from the hotel. This is a little outdated and the equipt. is in pretty poor shape, but it's totally safe and I actually enjoyed the energy in the classes alot! Mini bar with water and soda is free which is nice and there is a mini-mart place acorss the St. I would recommend for snacks and drinks. Overall I think it's a good pick.

“A reasonable hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

This was my second trip to Dakar, and my first time staying at The Pullman. All in all it was a pleasant and comfortable stay in The Pullman. The hotel and rooms are clean, spacious and air conditioned. The decor is a bit dated, but is not in a bad state.

The weakest point for me was the hotel pool. It looked filthy, you could only just see the bottom of the pool at the shallow end, and a layer of scum and oil was floating on the surface. There was no way I would have got into that water. Another guest commented to me that he was suprised the pool looked so dirty as he had been at the hotel only 6 weeks before, and the water looked immaculate. Maybe my timing was wrong, but it was a disappointment.

For me the bar area also lacked character or charm, but given that there are plenty of places around central Dakar to eat or drink, this wasn't an issue.

Generally I found the staff pleasant and helpful.

The location is good, very central in Dakar.

If I come back to Dakar again, then I would probably chose the Novotel, only as the hotel felt more moden, the pool had been clean, and the bar had more atmosphere.

Room Tip: From the perspective of room choice I would request a sea view. The sea view is pleasant, if your ro...

“Central, classy, clean”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

Only spent one night here so can't comment on much but the rooms was clean (if a bit outdated in it's ambience), the lobby is lovely and staff are helpful. Location is what makes it stand out. Airport shuttle is also hugely helpful, but that's also offered by the Novotel, which we much preferred.

Room Tip: ocean view

“The best night of my stay in Senegal!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2012

The service is superior...everything was beautiful...was given a room with an ocean view, free breakfast, free mini-bar...classy. I traveled from the USA and was leary about where to stay...but God guided me and it was wonderful!!!! Luxury...Dakar Style! And to top it off, affordable!!! The staff was very kind, patient and over extending to me and my son. I read the previous person's review and it so happened i stayed at the hotel a week after he did. I am sorry he had such a terrible time with the service, but just ask for Djabril..when checking in...he gave us superior service!

Shahidah :-)

Room Tip: Ask for an ocean view for no extra charge!

“Great Hotel, Horrible Staff”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 December 2011

Actually, the quality of the hotel and the location is almost perfect. There is a great swimming pool next to the ocean, and you may find all you need. However, the hotel staff does not even qualify for a two-star hotel. Although I asked for a free late check-out and this was confirmed by more than one receptionist, they tried to charge me for a half-night. Furthermore, they charged my credit card for more than 300 USD at check in, as a guarantee for extras, for a three night/one person stay. As I said it was too much, they told me it was just a routine. And the final success story is, they paid the balance of my deposit in local currency at 8PM, two hours before my flight, rejecting to pay in USD. Stay away from here, I mean it!
