“Out of town - and then there's the air conditioning”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 December 2010

We stayed here with a small tour group (12 people), so I can't comment on the value of this room. I had read the reviews beforehand and immediately tried the air conditioning, because it was quite hot when we arrived. It worked, but was very loud. Since we didn't plan on sleeping with it on, that was OK. In fact, we found that the "fan" only setting was perfect for the evening. However, a couple of others in our group had to change rooms. One because the aircon didn't work at all, and another because their toilet kept "running". Since we were there on a weekend, the hotel said it had no maintenance people until Monday. When our friends got back to the room after dinner, the room was flooded. They were moved. The exterior of the hotel and the rooms and hallways appear nice and inviting. Maintenance seems to be the issue. The outdoor pool area is beautiful, and we enjoyed that. They do have a shuttle into town on the hour, but on the weekends, it stops at 3 p.m. on Saturdays and only goes until noon on Sunday. Breakfast was very good. If there were a rating between 3 and 4, that's what I would give this hotel. But unless you have transportation, you would probably be better staying in the city - hopefully on your way to someplace else. Not a lot going on in Windhoek.

“Adequate hotel for a short stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2010

On the up-side: Large public areas, restaurant, and meeting rooms. Lovely pool and grounds. Good breakfast buffet. Nice bar. Large rooms. Very near Eros Airport.

On the down-side: Room decor a little dated. Aside from Eros, it's near nothing and the free shuttle can be jam-packed with hotel guests when it returns from downtown Windhoek. The very noisy, air conditioning barely managed to cool our room. (Several in our group needed to change rooms because their AC didn't work at all.) No room safes. Doors lock with old-fashioned keys - remember the door doesn't lock automatically when you leave the room; you need the key to lock it again.

“A reasonable hotel for a stop-over”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 September 2010

As this hotel was just a stop-over at either end of our Namibia tour, we were perfectly satisfied with it. The rooms are large, and the beds comfortable. Air con a little noisy but after a longflight, we had no trouble sleeping. It's in a good location, and there is a shuttle bus which runs into the main town quite frequently.
We enjoyed the dinner and breakfast, and the restaurant staff were very helpful.

“Good business hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 September 2010

As this was my first time in Windhoek, I have no idea about what the "average" hotel is. However the Safari Court Hotel is a good hotel, having most things someone needs. Air condition is old fashioned and loud, but as it was Namibian winter it was not a big deal.
Service is average but nice. Breakfast is also average but dinner is nice. Pool is ok for relax. It also has a gym and a "spa" but I didn't used it.
Internet access is crap, but free and WiFi, but definitely too bad for a business and conference centre. It also has a free shuttle to the city centre.
According to my colleagues the nearby Safari Hotel (belongs to the same complex) is a category lower and A/C seems not always to work ...
In summary I would recommend the Safari Court (not the Safari Hotel), if you travel during the Namibian Winter (so that A/C doesn't matter too much) and if you're open minded and do not try to compare Windhoek with Frankfurt (like a lot of intolerant germans do...).

“Some great things along with bad ones. Overall -> Average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2010

Stayed at this hotel for two nights during a recent business trip and as soon as I arrived and stepped out of the taxi I thought to myself: "looks good" and as time went by, it was an average hotel stay. First of all let me state that Windhoek is a flattened city which means that you will need a car, bus or taxi to get around and from this hotel... nothing is a walk away. The hotel itself has a great entry hall and restaurant area but that is about it. The rooms are big but do need some refurbishing. There are no magnetic or chip cards to get you into the room so they use the old method which is the simple key! The problem with this method is that it is ALWAYS very difficult to turn the key since the key hole is so close to the door trim that you will have to be careful in order not to keep scraping your fingers. The hotel does have (slow) internet access but you will have to keep asking for vouchers since they do have a two hour limit. Air conditioning / heating.... well, this was a big disappointment! It dis heat for about 5 minutes and then it stopped heating altogether (and in winter, it does get a bit cold). Even though I did not use the pool area, from what I saw, it is does seem quite small for such a large hotel. On the good side, they are very helpful and breakfast is very good and with nice variety.
