“OK and not more”

we stayed in the hotel for 3 nights on a business trip. The hotel is nice, rooms are specious and convenient though a/c is a bit noisy. Location is very good.
The problem was that there was no hot water in the hotel for day and a half out of the 3 days we stayed there. We were told about the problem only after we checked in and were on our way to our rooms (a very long process as always in Africa). A cold shower after 28 hours on the way is not something that you wish for. By the way, they didn't offer any discount or compensation for this inconvenience.

“Probably the Best”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

Excellent standard of room, definitely 4+ star. The rooms have been recently renovated and offer plenty of space particularly for business. Internet is not free and is expensive. Great central situation which again good for business visits. Staff attentive and main restaurant good quality. Stayed 16 nights

Room Tip: Make sure the A/C works

“Average at Best”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

The air conditioner was noisy as hell and stuck on 25 degrees, the room was a sauna. I complained twice but it was not fixed.

There was no tomato sauce on the first day, "it's locked up". They had no beef in the restaurant or room service the second day. Room service had no idea what the restaurant could offer. I eventually went downstairs to ask them and they said they also had chicken available which they could deliver. A can of Coke was N$20. Breakfast is N$150 and dinner N$185.

Reception smells like smoke from the entrance of the casino and bar right next to it.

There is no direct road access to get into the hotel. Parking is virtually non existent in front so hopefully you'll be dropped off instead. You need to walk through the mall and up the escalators to get to the hotel. I was there 3 days and the escalator was broken all three days - I had to haul my very heavy suitcase full of training material up and down by myself.

Beware of walking around in that area flashing cameras, wallets and bags - my client (locals) warned me that there are plenty of pickpockets around there and can see a tourist a mile away. I did not have any issues even though I had to walk to my client along that road every day with a full suitcase.

The staff are very friendly at reception.

The bed was very comfortable and the room would have been very quiet if it wasn't for the aircon.

The staff at breakfast don't have much to do and stand around in groups just watching you eat.

The shower is minuscule in a huge bathroom and there's a glaring bright light right about your head. So when you've had no sleep from sweltering all night and being kept awake by a noisy aircon, and have to get up at 6am; you get greeted with a strobe light in your face as you wash your hair. Very unpleasant.

The TV and light switches give off a bright glow when switched off effectively illuminating the entire room at night. I had to cover the TV with a blanket and the light switch with paper so I could get some sleep. The bedside lamps were not working.

There is a a new Hilton hotel right over the road. I will definitely be staying there next time instead - least you are guaranteed of a consistent experience at the Hilton's across the globe.

This was not a 5 star experience for me.

Room Tip: The Hilton.

“Good Stay in the Centre of Windhoek”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 December 2011

An excellent venue for short business trips to Windhoek, with all the amenities for a business travel in one building.

Room Tip: The wellness Centre on the 13th floor is a must after a weary day.

“I couldn't have asked for more”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 December 2011

I happened to pop into this hotel, as I had not made a reservation anywhere in Windhoek. When enquiring about the rates, the lady at reception asked if I was a pensionner. When I replied that I was she informed me that special rates were then available - I answered that that was the first time age had worked in my favour! And very reasonable rates they were. She personally chose the room for me, on the 14th floor with a fabulous view of the city and the surrounding hills, service was excellent, and reception telephoned me every evening to ask if there was anything I wanted/needed. The rooms were large and comfortable and the bathroom was also large - with a bath and a separate shower - and all was very clean. As the hotel is right in the centre of town, it was the best - and in the end only - choice I could have made. What really made it stand out for me were the ladies on reception and the Head of the cleaning staff at least on the 14th floor, who informed me that she wanted all her guests to feel special which is why she has been working at this hotel for 20 years. And as far as I was concerned she succeeded. Many thanks to you all ladies.
